The Essendon Bombers and Hawthorn Hawks will reignite their fierce rivalry once more as they clash in a Saturday night blockbuster at Marvel Stadium. Stay up to date with their AFL clash with live scores on The Roar from 7:25pm (AEDT).

A new era officially begins at the Bombers in 2021, with new coach Ben Rutten being handed the reins after completing his handover from John Worsfold. Unfortunately, the offseason was a bad one for Essendon, as they lost Joe Daniher, Adam Saad and Orazio Fantasia to rival clubs and are a popular pick to slide down the ladder – a prediction the new coach will be desperate to prove wrong.

The once-impervious Hawks seem to have a big task ahead of them too. With several members of the triple-premiership side departing, they look more vulnerable than they ever have during Alastair Clarkson’s tenure. Few are brave enough to tip a wooden spoon or thereabouts finish for a Clarkson-coached side, but a loss tonight might force many to stare down the barrel of such a prospect.

Bombers got ahead by 39 points at half time, and hawthorn kicked 8 goals from 15 inside fifties. I know the bombers have got some injuries but that was exceptionally poor. The experiment of Ned Cahill down back got off to an ignominious start and Nik Cox is bereft of confidence. I thought Harry Jones played well but he has a worse kicking routine than Joey Daniher

Pinkie, what happened. Didn’t see a minute of the game. Is my top eight pick as well as my tipping cactus? Or did Clarko do a Clarko?

You just need to be more inventive. Our work email service has a net nanny. Run by a bunch of ash holes. it is complete shirt    Rather like poor old Essendon's finishing tonight :crying: This is our payback for what we did to them last year I guess.

It would seem that whatever Ben Rutten said to the Plyers at half time had the opposite effect. Celebrating goals on the boundary line like a supporter during the 2nd quarter was not sends the wrong message also. Bombers showing some promise but have a long way to go if they can be beaten like that by Hawthorn.

Great game. Some green shoots for Hawks fans. Will day was excellent, as was Brockman, supported by some old hands ilike Burgoyne. I reckon that was Morrison's best game as well.
