Sydney co-captain Luke Parker brings up his 250th game… but will surely be expecting a fired-up Essendon to be out to make the day a difficult one. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 1:45pm (AEST).
Parker’s infamous taunt for Dylan Shiel and the Bombers earlier this year won’t have been forgotten, and has dominated much of the build-up to this game.
However, the Swan has built a reputation as one of the game’s toughest customers, and there surely isn’t much the Bombers can throw his way that he won’t be prepared to take.
His Swans are looking the goods for September, and even as a top-four challenger, having dispatched St Kilda last week.
Defender Justin McInerney returns after a stint in health and safety protocols, and is the Swans’ only change for their trip to the MCG.
The Bombers’ season officially sunk to new depths with a loss to the previously rudderless West Coast last week, but if there’s anything that can get them playing for pride, it’s getting a chance to square the ledger with Parker.
Star midfielder Darcy Parish is a welcome return after a fortnight off with a badly corked calf, while young gun Archie Perkins was a late withdrawal from the team due to his own calf ailment.

You beauty well done dons

Not saying this one game rules out the Swans Liam, more where they are now than what they seemed at the start of the year. They just seem a level off Geelong, Brisbane and Melbourne, the big three now. Freo, Carlton, Swans all seem a level off. Richmond have the potential to join the big three too.

Pucker up then
Don Freo

Yeah.

In fairness if one bad loss ruled a club out of premiership contention then Freo, the Blues, Brisbane and even Melbourne wouldn’t be considered premiership threats. I think it’s more emblematic of how close much of the competition is, and how there’s no such thing as a guaranteed win.

The Swans were never a contender.

Roar Rookie
Oh, I think you mean he deviated to bump into the Don's player, then.
Birdman

Hmmm, probably but inconsistent is better than consistently bad I guess...

Yes it is AFL! No games are a guarantee. Eagles with their best team all year. Luck of the draw we are playing at the G. That is a bonus!
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
Yeah. I'm agreeing with you. None of them should be 50s. I think he gave a 3rd for dissent.

And the Tigers need to win as well. Just saying.
Don Freo

Denial.

Roar Rookie
I don't think, I know. Chances haven't improved, still 30/70, If the Tigers think it's in the bank. The side that stank before the bye might unwind the crank and Naitanui will smash the Nank
Doctor Rotcod
Roar Rookie
Or maybe top twelve, nah kidding.

That was a Swans loss rather than a Bombers win. Absolutely terrible kicking for goal. Really should have won by 3 or 4 goals. Are the Swans the most inconsistent team in the AFL?

Swans ruled out as a premiership contender then today? Well done Bombers.
Birdman
Roar Rookie
Won't help them if they make the GF

Should be and take a few with him. The swans are not a good side any more and need a massive rebuild to start contending again.
