Carlton can officially seal up their first finals appearance since 2013 with a win over Gold Coast on the glitter strip. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:10pm (AEST).

Eight wins in a row, including three over the current top four, have turned the Blues’ season on its head, and with just two weeks to go before finals, they are arguably one of the premiership favourites – especially with Harry McKay making an earlier than expected return from a knee injury.

However, the Suns are always a challenging proposition on their home ground, and will be aiming to deal the Blues a shock equal to their recent upset over Brisbane.

Dow seems to have a great footy brain and really good skills, so he will e a super star one day. McKay - well that's another story. If he learned hoe to kick a footy he might improve his overall ranking. It's called footballand his kicking skills are well below par, a bit of a passenger really.

History says it as much as History says you can’t win from outside the top 4. It’s isn’t an absolute.

Pies have had a top 2 spot set for a month, makes it challenging in selection and psychologically too. Blues been playing cut throat games for 2 months thanks to your inexplicable bad start. We will be completely different first QF

You did! 6.27pm, August 19th. "but history also says....." Make up your mind. That statement does not suit your argument now, so you disown it! Or you think the Pies can win it!

Gee Scribbler, Blues who have won the last nine games are still messy according to you and the coach is no good in close games. How messy is your team that have lost 3 of their last 4 games and were lucky to win against the Cats?

One player has probably won you a few games yes. GC should have won today . Blues still messy and not coached well for close games

And if ever a side was going to win from outside the top 4 it would be 2023

2016 Bulldogs lost 3 of their last 6 games in rounds 18, 19 and 23 on their way to a premiership!

Don't need to win when top spot is locked away?? Surely you can appreciate their may be a drop off when their really isn't much left to play for or as McCrae said risk v reward? It may well come back to bite them as you shouldn't flirt with form but time will tell. Obviously a biased opinion but they're the number one team for a reason and the flag is theirs to lose

And I said at the time it was a shocking performance. You’ve scraped over the line against a side with nothing to play for. No side in the competition relies more on one player than Carlton.

Whilst the stat is true, the Dogs were 19 points up in the 2021 GF, a season in which they lost their final 3 H&A games. It’s not like sides who lose games late are necessarily going to be hopeless. And this year’s H&A season is the closest we’ve ever had IMO. If ever a side was going to have some losses late but win it, it’s 2023.

I’m very worried about what it means for us tomorrow. I don’t know if Hawthorn will let us reel back a 40 point margin the way GC did today (no disrespect to you for coming back but GC lapsed significantly late in the second).

waiting for pies first final is like dying from a thousand cuts, win it or lose it will tell us all we need to know for the following game , either much of the same or back on track

Spin how you like Pete. Hawks are 16th with a percentage of 81.

Only if we finished the season the way we were playing back then. Never like a mid season sacking.
