Gold Coast hosting Fremantle in the last game of the round may not seem like the pinnacle of spectacles that have come before it in Round 2, but it is a game that has the potential to be a Sunday twilight classic. Join The Roar for live commentary and updates at 4:40pm AEDT.
With neither of these teams touted to be massive contenders in 2019, Round 1 was a surprising effort from both sides.
The Suns were enormously impressive although suffering a defeat in Round 1. Going down to the Saints by the smallest of margins last Sunday. They took the game on and if it wasn’t for some injuries, they could have ended the round on the winners list.
Brayden Fiorini was monumental for the Suns gathering 30 disposals, six clearances, six tackles and seven score involvements.
The Suns were bruised and battered by the end of the game, co-captain David Swallow survived serious concern from a collision. However, electric forward Ben Ainsworth will miss a month of football from a knee injury.
For the Dockers, they played an uncharacteristic attacking brand of football in there 82-point thumping of North Melbourne.
Cam McCarthy starred with his five straight goals to lead the Coleman Medal at the end of Round 1. But it was the Fremantle captain who brushed off the absence of Lachie Neale to rip the game apart from the centre of the ground.
Fyfe was in involved in everything and seemed considerably better than every player on the ground at the stoppages. The Brownlow medallist had 32 disposals, 10 clearances, eight inside 50s, 13 score involvements and a goal.
Jesse Hogan will play his first game for the Dockers this week and will be hoping his midfielders can deliver him the ball like they did to his stablemate Cam McCarthy.
Prediction
Although the Suns were valiant in defeat last week, Fremantle looked as an invigorated side. Fyfe is the key, if he gets going, there isn’t many in the league that can stopin-formyfe to an in form McCarthy and star recruit Jesse Hogan is a play the Suns will be hoping they can maintain.

If we can't put away a team that kicks 7.19 whilst coming off a dominant win last week, we absolutely don't deserve to win. Full credit to Gold Coast. I'm liking their stuff this year.

Literally no one ever thought there was a bandwagon.

Well, giving credit where credit is due they had a good game plan that was too much for the Dockers and the Dockers didn't adapt. Brad Hill was excellent but too few were of his standard.

Replacing Mundy as Captain was a huge mistake. Fyfe is not a leader or a captain. When Lyon is gone he should offer to stand down and just be a great player. The club needs to make some obvious decisions.

Wish they wouldn’t give me Fremantle the Sunday twilight fixture for away games as well. Puts a real downer on the weekend watching two of the worst three teams in the league play a game like that to finish the round.

So much for the Dockers winning by 10 goals.... I'm officially off the bandwagon

The Suns could have easily been 2 from 2.

Sack Lyon tommorow. I have no idea what style he was told the players to play there.

We probably didn’t deserve to win anyway. Well done Suns.

Collins, the ex Docker floated back in Fremantles last roll of the dice and saved the game for the Suns. Outstanding mark.. The Dockers seemed to be a different line-up with Hogan in the side, there will be questions around Hogan. They struggled to hit the scoreboard today which was extremely unexpected compared to last weeks performance
