Things will get even uglier for Port Adelaide if they can’t finally end their winless streak at home to a West Coast Eagles side still decimated by injury and COVID. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:35pm (AEST).

0-5 to start the season for the first time in their AFL history, the Power are officially in the last-chance saloon – if it’s not too late already.

With coach Ken Hinkley under the pump, the Power nearly pulled off an extraordinary victory, coming from 49 points down at half time to fall just three points short of Carlton in a heartbreaking defeat to continue their miserable time of it in 2022.

That comeback hasn’t stopped Hinkley from making a statement at selection, with gun winger Karl Amon omitted. Reigning Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines returns from his scary heart ailment, while youngster Kane Farrell plays his first game for 2022, having suffered a knee injury last season.

The Eagles have alternated between respectable and dismal throughout this season, following up an amazing win over Collingwood with an ugly loss to Sydney at home last week.

With key midfielders underdone having been rushed back into the team, the Eagles were more than 50 points down before they’d so much as scored, and things hardly got better from there.

In a sign of the tough time they’ve had this year, ruckman Luke Strnadica will become the 41st Eagle picked in just six rounds, and eleventh debutant, when he runs onto the Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Can we get our Legendary Ruck Coach Dean Cox back from Sydney Next Week and Actually stat Coaching the Once and Mighty Proud Eagles, As a Eagles member and Proud Supporter I am Shattered. I know the Eagles will improve, but that game against a winless Port was so Shattering that I think it is time for Simpson to face the music and be Sacked at the End of the year., ' ' ' ' ' ' '

Yeah, alot of people forget that.He has talent,no denying that.Think because Port where trying to win a flag the last couple of years the pressure was enormous for him.He is only 23 years old.Couple of marks he took yesterday especially the one he attacked the footy an took a great contested mark was great.Worth sticking with I think.Marshall 23 Georgiades 20 Ollie Lord showing good signs down in the SANFL.Could become a good forward line for many years to come

Oh dear Charlie. Dixon is a terrific player. If he played in Melbourne side we would never hear the end of it

They've given up, kinda understandably I guess, but this game was more about WC's performance than Ports for sure

He's gonna be a very good ruckman, lovely tap, big leap, can't see Scotty being the number 1 again, could see them both playing

Marshall has talent, but he's had some setbacks in his personal life and been asked to do too much for the type of player he is. This was his best game to date, here's hoping it kick starts something, this is his chance to be an AFL footballer, god knows we need him to be

Went to the game tonight. Kinda happy with the W I guess. BUT, this team has a serious problem, the difference in work ethic I saw from one quarter to the next was alarming. When it's going ok, they run, chase, tackle, lead, when it's not, they jog everywhere, no one moves in the forward line, they're stagnant, lazy. 15 other teams would have beaten us tonight. Was good to see Marshall and Rozee play well though and the Anzac ceremony was awesome as usual. I can tell you though, the feeling in the crowd wasn't great, the masses are restless.

Half the side had no preseason, the other half haven't trained with each other more than twice or three times. No McGovern, Naitanui, Allen and others. Third away game, several have had Covid. Port should have won by a lot more.

Last year after playing the Blues at the SCG Simmo dropped youth that played with spirit for established returning players and the team was never the same for the rest of the season. He did it again these last 2 weeks and history has repeated. Make players earn their spot in the team and reward form over names!

Someone drop off the help wanted section of the paper on Simmo's desk
