Coming off their bye week, Richmond will be looking to atone for their nail-biting loss to the Swans, while Port Adelaide will be looking to continue their red-hot form after a slow start to the 2022 season. Join The Roar for live scores, coverage and analysis from 7:20pm (AEST).
The visitors have had a solid record recently at the MCG but Richmond continue to have the upper hand on home soil.
Damien Harwick will welcome change into his forward line for tonight’s clash after the majority of goals that were scored against the Swans two weeks ago came from their defence and midfield. Trent Cotchin and Dion Prestia continued their solid form against the Swans leading the possession count for their side. They are up against an up-and-coming Power midfield tonight, so will need to be at their best.
The Tigers are making a few changes coming into tonight’s clash, with the in-form Noah Balta making his return to the side after a couple of weeks on the sidelines. His flexibility and goal awareness has been a staple in the Tigers’ success this season and he will look to continue this form heading into tonight.
Another interesting piece of team news is Jason Castagna being omitted from Damien Hardwick’s side, this is after a relatively quiet patch of form. This is despite premiership forward Kane Lambert being unable to prove his fitness ahead of tonight’s match.
Charlie Dixon was a welcome addition back into the Port Adelaide side a couple of weeks ago, booting two goals on his return to the Power’s forward line. Ollie Wines and Karl Amon were the leading possession winners in the Port midfield in their win over Essendon.
The key piece of team news out of the Port Adelaide camp is that young ruckman Sam Hayes has been omitted, with the Power looking to go smaller in wet conditions. This leaves them without a recognised ruckman for tonight’s game with the ongoing unavailability of Scott Lycett. Ken Hinkley has named Jeremy Finalyson as starting ruck to go up against the Tigers skipper, Toby Nankervis.
Prediction
The Tigers should win this one by 17 points. Port are lacking a full time ruck and the Tigers have an adjusted forward line.

Win or lose I can honestly say that effort has not been an issue O.....Hopefully Port and Tigers can grow that rivalry over the next few decades and there after, would be awesome to have a Vic rival born from respect and success....not the Pies thing....but big games, finals, dust ups and more....good luck for the rest of the year (except of course round 21!)

Port were robbed. Without the very questionable umpiring Port win by 2 goals

Spot on. The 50 used to be for serious offences not a twitch on the mark.

I find it curious that anytime someone makes a statement that isn't praising the Tigers they are accused of hating on them. MY statement above makes no judgements one way or the other, just states a well known fact.

"what I do know is I saw 18 points handed to a team tonight". What a load of BS. There were debateable frees/50s both ways. The end result actually flattered Port. Tiges should have won by 5 or 6 goals. Pretty disappointing commentary from you B1. I'm rapt that you're so bitter.....makes the victory so much sweeter.

U dislike richmond we get it

IT is well documented that the Tigers are happy to slow the game down giving away free kicks and even 50m penalties as it allows them time to get their defenisve structure in place - just becuase you don't like it doens't make it untrue.

Billy, got to say Port were courageous. They threw everything at the game. Gambled on leaving a ruck out for extra run which they had the advantage in the clearances. In hindsight that may have been a good thing with two boys taking each other out. Dixon was rusty and will be better, Marshall was strong and a handful. I thought the Port boys were tough as nails. It always seems to be a tight contest between the teams. In some ways they have a bit of a rivalry. That Prelim in 2020 was one of the toughest games ever. People on this thread underestimate how close and tough this comp is. Needles to say Only 8 teams qualify for finals.

If you say so, but then again reality and you only are really only passing acquaintances

I'm saying that there were soft frees that had an impact on the game at important times, I don't know who would have won, what I do know is I saw 18 points handed to a team tonight.

You were clearly the one "wigging out" last night.....it was pretty embarrassing actually.

You can't be any clearer, and correct, than that. Cheers.

You can not care who won and observe the basic fact the Tigers got a good run with the umpires at the same time. You can also not care who won and enjoy watching you wig out trying to argue black is white.
