The Fremantle Dockers haven’t beaten cross-town rivals the West Coast Eagles in more than six years – is today the day their streak ends? Keep an eye on the Western Derby with live scores on The Roar from 4:40pm (AEST).

The Eagles have claimed the last ten derbies as the Dockers have struggled in the lower rungs of the ladder. However, with the men in purple showing signs of real progress under Justin Longmuir’s watchful eye, they’ve arguably not been in a better position to challenge their enemy since their halcyon days of 2015.

Sitting sixth on the ladder thanks to a three-match winning streak, the Dockers are in tip-top form. Freo fans can rightly be confident they will finally be able to swagger into work on Monday morning.

By contrast, the Eagles appear vulnerable. A stunning 97-point loss to Geelong has once again given rise to accusations they are ‘flat-track bullies’.

A return to the familiar surrounds of Optus Stadium should help, but they’ll have to do it without superstar defender Jeremy McGovern, who suffered a groin injury against the Cats.

Last weekeend’s COVID-enforced lockdown across Perth and Peel saw the Dockers play North Melbourne behind closed doors, and sparked fears the much-hyped Derby would also have to take place without crowds in attendance.

However, WA Premier Mark McGowan has announced that Optus Stadium can be filled to 75 per cent capacity for the match.

Game information

Opening bounce: 4:40pm (AEST)
Venue: Optus Stadium
TV: Fox Footy, Channel Seven (WA only)
Live stream: Kayo Sports, Foxtel Now, Foxtel Go
Betting: Eagles $1.71, Dockers $2.14 (odds via PlayUp)

Way better. Faster, a better kick, tougher in the clinches.

Tabs kicked 3 first half goals on Edwards. The kid was shifted onto Lobb in the second half. It was Allen who shut down Tabs.

Mundy has gone for a scan. Persevere with Freddie he is future but Colyer is way to inconsistent never make it in my book. Hard to imagine but they reckon Chapman will be OK. I reckon we have to make a big play for ex south freo player Shai Bolton who is on fire at Richmond.

With you on Treacy and Sturt, and would like to see Western and Henry get a game. Not sure whats happened to Valente but i'm assuming hes either injured or badly out of favour. Apparently next weeks game now could be played at the Gabba, due to our covid situation here which is interesting. Changes for next week: In: Treacy, Sturt, Western, Ryan Outs: Hughes (inj), Chapman (inj), Crowden, Duman Freddy and Schultz perhaps have enough credits in the bank for now but need to lift. Colyer was actually one of our better players again yesterday, as much as i'd like to drop him, he hasn't really been the issue.

I saw a bit of the Peel game on TV.....Treacy played well. Kicked for goal really well. I agree with your ins & opportunities. We are still a way of....that’s fine, we just need to acknowledge where we are at & not get to far ahead of ourselves. Valence must have something as they kept him on the books through all his injuries.

To be honest I thought the first half was exhilarating. I wish it could have been that close at the end. As an Eagles supporter I still want Freo to be successful. Two strong WA teams scares the hell out of the Vics. Haha

Darling was probably robbed of another goal later in the game when Langdon played on for a behind after he'd been clobbered head-high in the goal square. Would have been costly in a close game. On another note Brander recovered well after doing a 'Darling' leading to a Freo goal early on.

well if u make the same prediction year after year one day u may actually get it right (but i know, thus far its all the fault of the {v}afl, those immoral umpires & that unprecedented in the history of the game injury list)

Issue with Kelly is he's easily tagged out. Gets a hard tag each week. With the absence of Yeo, Shuey, a lot worse. If he can learn to shake a tag, the competition better watch out. (Or at least get some backup from one of Yeo/Shuey...)

Spot on Johnno to many B graders bring Henry in for Colyer he needs game time. Leave Watson in, Hughes has to go to many clangers simply not up to it.Treacy and Sturt have t come back in. Give Valente,O’driscoll,Western and others a opportunity. Forget finals and get the list sorted.

Had a life to lead don but go back to my last roar post four weeks ago I said we would win it isn't Freo time and as it was a 10 goal loss yesterday my opinion on the squad Ross was building is firmly correct.

Agree totally. I think we need to concentrate on our bottom 6 that get selected too often. Our depth is not there. Schultz, Colyer, Crowden, Fredrick’s, Lobb, Hughes either play 1 good game every now or then, or in Hughes case make vital, costly mistakes. You could add Aish & Acres to that list also. Too many of these players get a game even when we don’t have many injuries, they are centre forward mainly.
