The first Test continues when Australia look to build a first-innings lead on the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10:30am (AEDT).

With all the talk pre-game regarding Steve Smith’s debut at opener, it was with some disappointment that Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to field on Day 1.

However, Cummins has got most of his captaincy decisions correct this summer, and he was proved right again, with the Windies skittled for 188 in just 62.1 overs, despite a last-wicket partnership of 55 temporarily delaying Australia.

There was plenty in the surface early, but the tourists only have themselves to blame for a number of dismissals, with a swathe of loose shots played.

The Windies hit back with the ball before stumps, with debutant Shamar Joseph showing good pace to claim the key wickets of Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.

Australia reached 2/59 at stumps with Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green the not out batters.

We’ve got an interesting first session coming up. If Khawaja and Green can get going, with the attack of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey to come, Australia will be looking to build a big first-innings lead. But if the West Indies can get some early breakthroughs, they will be firmly back in this contest.

Not to be too pedantic, but the game starts at 10:00am ACDT, not 10:30. It could be all over if you miss that 30 minutes...

With Greaves dismissal, stumps has been called. After a promising start from the West Indies, a century from Travis Head and 4 wickets from Josh Hazlewood has swung the match firmly in Australia's favour. The Windies still trail by 22 runs with just 4 wickets left in the shed.

There's no indication, even on ball tracking that half of that ball pitched in line with leg. More than half of it pitched outside the line. The DRS judgement seems totally random.
