“Then some unlucky ones. Such as having Victoria 9 down at the end of the last game between the two sides.” What are you on about? It was Victoria that had NSW nine down, and if not for rain Victoria would have won by an innings. Might as well call it two innings given that Victoria declared at six down and NSW still needed 100 runs just to make Victoria bat again.

Round 10 Sheffield Shield wrap – Who's hitting their stride ahead of the big final?

Sorry to keep banging on about this but but I just saw a remarkable stat. In the last 60 years NZ have had four clean sweep series losses at home. All have come in the last 25 years against Australia. Think of all of the strong West Indian, Pakistani, South African, English, and Indian teams that have played there in the last 60 years.

Test Mortem: Aussie aura living rent free in Kiwi minds, Marnus officially in a form slump, DRS needs review

If his batting alone justifies his selection his bowling does not matter, and it would not matter if he did not bowl for that national side. Having extra bowling options cannot be a bad thing either.

Round 9 Sheffield Shield wrap - Is anyone putting pressure on Marnus for a Test spot, and is 'poor Will' done?

Let’s have relevant numbers. ” lol. Sutherland has a better average this session, as he has had every season.

Bailey defends decision to recall veteran ahead of young guns as Aussies reveal Test squad for New Zealand tour

Aside from winning a test against Australia this year, in 2003 the West Indies were ranked eighth in the world and drew a series 2-2. NZ are generally ranked higher than eighth and never beat us. It does not matter that we only play Bangladesh in Bangladesh. If we only played NZ in NZ they would not have won a test against us for 30 years.

JFM was batting at six or so for South Australia a couple of months ago. He came in at 4/16 and hit a century. Strangely, after playing such a great innings at six, they moved him to opener in the very next match.

Pipeline running dry: Aussie selectors struggling to find young batters knocking at the door, let alone bashing it down

Do you have an example of DRS ‘creating’ a howler?

Look at it the other way around. I do not think that Australia dominates any other team in the world as much as it dominates NZ. Even the West Indies and Bangladesh have more wins against Australia in the last 25 or 30 years.

DRS is better than no DRS. It overturns plenty of ‘howlers’.

People used to say the concussions were an unavoidable part of Australian football.

Pucovski retires hurt in distressing scenes after another Sheffield Shield head knock

Yeah, Cricket Australia/Cricket Victoria have a duty of care here. This must stop.

It is way bigger than a bowler versus batsmen issue. There are other things that could tip the game in the bowler’s favour without concussions occurring.

It does seem like that might be the case (him getting all these concussions making him tentative).

In this game he was batting at three and came to the crease in about the 50th over. I do not think it matters whether the ball was new or not though. Usually short bowling is an old ball tactic anyway.

I tend to think that Labuchagne should be dropped yet. We should at least wait until the end of the NZ series, but he has not done much since the start of the Indian tour.

COMMENT: Horrendously out of form or not, Australia would be mad to ditch Marnus now

I am unsure as to whether or not Labuschagne should be dropped, but he definitely should have played Shield recently instead of the ODIs against the West Indies. The next ODI world cup is four years away, he is no chance of playing in the T20 world cup, there is just no need for him to be playing white ball cricket at the moment when he could be correcting his red ball ball game.

So for Auckland to get a decent cricket stadium the AFL needs expand into New Zealand.

Wait, why are international rugby and cricket matches played at the same stadium in Auckland?

I am not sure the Big Bash example is a good one. I cannot imagine a team ever retiring an opener after three overs, but if someone like Labuschagne was batting in the 17th over and someone like Maxwell is yet to come in, I think a coach should pull the trigger.

It's not against the rules, but it's highly suspect... Will 'tactical' batter retirements be T20 cricket's next big thing?

I agree with peperoni. Milne was pretty good. A few edges went through the slips and gully for boundaries and he had Marsh dropped twice. One should have been a pretty simple catch but instead it went for six. The match figures do not reflect any of this. With a bit of luck he could have had 2 or 3 for 30 instead of 1/54. David tonked him at the end but David can do that to anyone.

'Special to watch': David's demolition propels Australia to last-ball cliffhanger win after bowlers earn unwanted record

A lot of his dismissals have been pretty gross. Against NSW he faced 100+ balls, barely played a false shot, and then gets out trying to hit a ball out of the park.

Round 8 Sheffield Shield wrap – Who's putting their hand up for an Aussie Test spot?

Beau Webster. Took 4/56 on the weekend and now has 17 wicketsbat 34 this season and is averaging 60 with the bat. Batted well last season too.

Round 7 Sheffield Shield wrap – Who's keeping their spot at the head of the Test queue?

Michael Clarke and Marnus Labuschagne both averages less away from home than Williamson. Virat Kholi averages 42.84 away from home. Mathew Hayden had similar average away from home as Williamson.

Our worst fears are realised - South Africa's shocker across the ditch is bringing Test cricket into disrepute

Why do you say that his style of bowling does not suit longer formats? Absoutely spinners take a while. I reckon Lyon’s best bowling has been in the last few years.
