Use your bat and hit the ball. Pad up and run the gauntlet. My word sometimes batsmen can be precious about being given LBW when they don’t want to play the ball if you’re going to leave just get the pad out the way ? Then no one (umpire, bowler, batsman or spectator) can whing about the ball hitting the stumps. If it pitches outside leg you can do it and feel aggressived.
Pitched on , or just outside off, swinging back nicely. Would probably have come close to taking the off bail. Nothing resemblnig a shot.. On your bike Alex, that appalling display of contempt deserves a match in the stands.
For me that delivery looks to be swinging back into Doolan and could easily have hit the stumps. I am not sure that can be described of as being a howler, more like a lot of disappointment at getting out off the last ball of the day, and a bit of sour grapes.
I don't have any issue with that not being in line - maybe going over the top, but I also don't mind the 50/50 calls going the way of the bowler when the batsman has shouldered arms
As James said, there have been far worse decisions made. That one Tremain practically cut off his bat into the arms of first slip and was told not out still baffles me. John Ward couldn't spot a fire in NSW based on that.
By the Shield umpiring standards so far this year, this is actually not awful! Some of the decisions we've seen have made this look utterly plumb... :unhappy:
Yet another questionable aka poor umpiring decision from the Sheffield Shield. They badly need to bring in replay cameras so the howlers can be identified and corrected but hopefully to raise the standard of umpiring.
I've seen more than one Test hopeful cop a shocker this year and this was another really bad one

Seen worse. A ball tracker would have been interesting on it.

Yeah, at least with this one you could say it *might* have hit off stump.

True, I think DRS might have given this not out but it was coming in enough to make it a close call, and too close to leave with any confidence.

Some umpires go over the top with giving leaves out LBW. The ball still has to be hitting the stumps, and that was highly dubious here.

Yeah I reckon he's got reason to be aggrieved!
