Justin Langer furious over Glenn Maxwell questions

By The Roar / Editor

Australian coach Justin Langer was not impressed by a line of questioning from a journalist about cricketer Glenn Maxwell. Langer eventually apologised but said his frustration was due to what he saw as constant false reports about a supposed rift.

Watching the hole press conference langer just repeats "we have got to get better " about 25 times, like it's a self reinforcing mantra from a tripper hanging on to reality or a political catch cry from a politician . It all just washed over me as bullish! T. "It's been hard Geoffs a friend of mine " on ditching the swampy bros. That exposes the nepotism . No wonder the selectors are on the run .

Repeating a question and repeating your answer is classic stalling behaviour when lying. Glaring and raising your voice is classic defensive behaviour. So much for elite honesty. The ego's live large in the CA culture.

Just two months ago they had Maxi coming in at #8 in the ODIs because he had a couple of "lean" innings. They said he hadn't batted well enough to bat at #7 with Finch even getting into it saying "that's just reality at the end of the day". Just absolutely ridiculous to have a late innings batsman who averages 32 at a strike rate of 120 to come in at #8. How daft can you be. His crime had been scores of 34, 62, 31, 19 in ODIs. Scores of 18, 2, 52, 4 in T20i matches. Don't forget he's a mid order batsman given licence to smash the ball. That was apparently enough justification for moving him down to #8. This is just bullying and victimisation plain and simple. Finch hasn't had a decent ODI innings in a long time, his only decent Test innings was a scratchy 50 where he should have been out several times. Yet he's still padding up to open in the ODIs and is captain! Unbelievable. Just so hypocritical.

but but, it wasn’t me or a selector who told him, it’s “whispers”. I read that and other reported comments as someone like the now-gone High Performance manager was said “whisperer” but of course one could ask “On Whose Behalf was Maxwell lead up the garden path and messed with?” It likely cost Maxwell a lot of money also, cancelling these OS stints to stay fresh for the test side. Darren Lehmann and Steve Smith started the white-anting of Glenn Maxwell back in the Jan 2017 ODI series and again one could ask “On Whose Behalf?” Since then we have seen Maxwell constantly being rogered over a table by CA high ups. Not to worry! “Gun sons of the West” Cam Bancroft and Ashton Turner will soon be regulars in the ODI and test sides so JL will be smiling again.

That's a great point Rob. Now that I've watched this again Langer has the emotive reaction of someone who is trying to cover something up. My gut now tells me there are senior people keeping Maxwell out of Test reckoning and Langer is party to it and so feels guilty. "The lady doth protest too much" sums this video up.

Jl under pressure now, the honeymoon is over. I’m anticipating England 4 Australia 0, Jl sacked and Paine steps down.

Jl apparently told Maxwell he has to change his surname to Marsh to warrant consideration.

Still did not explain to anyone’s satisfaction why Maxwell isn’t in the side. This was Ugly behaviour by Langer who looked guilty, desperate and cornered.

Typical. Its marvelous how administration and coach's get real prickly when asked in depth questions they don't like. BE HONEST. That's the sort of reply that gets them bad name and images in the first place. When will they ever learn. The journos are only asking question's the public would Real bad look.

Why does Langer get a pass. The guy is one of the selectors, he's effectively called Maxie a liar in that press conference, he's won 3/25 against cricketing nations since taken over.

So neither Hohns or Langer know who told Maxwell not to play county cricket. Either Chappell is holding a smoking gun or they genuinely don't like him. Hohns & Chappell need the boot ASAP.

The reaction from Langer was one you get from a guilty person when they get cornered and confronted with the truth. If I reacted like that to a question from my wife she would say “What are you hiding “. She would put my balls in a vice with that reaction.

langer and hohns should have investigated Maxwells claim then and if it was true he deserved an apology. Both have been very unprofessional and have left the Australian public confused. It is time they come clear ASAP.
