Both the Brisbane Broncos and the Wests Tigers desperately need a win to relieve some pressure as they lock horns in a battle of the battlers. Join The Roar for live scores from Suncorp Stadium from 4:05pm (AEST).

Remarkably, if the Tigers can win this, they’ll be just one win and points-differential outside the eight. However, their ugly -148 differential tells a story of what has been an at times painful season for Michael Maguire and his team.

It’s now been a month without success since their stunning win over an Origin-weakened Panthers. Tommy Talau comes in for the COVID-exposed James Roberts in the centres from last week’s loss to the Rabbitohs, while Stefano Utoikamanu gets his chance to start. Tuki Simpkins will make his debut from the bench.

The Broncos have once again struggled this season under new coach Kevin Walters, but they’ll head into this match on the back of a win over the Sharks in their last game.

Xavier Coates won’t return from his Origin-enforced absence against Cronulla, giving Jamayne Isaako another chance at turning around his spluttering career. Jesse Arthars will return from his concussion off the bench.

You're not entirely off base DPS. I'm a member of the Broncos, and I live north of Brisbane. But I do support a couple of other teams, solely for past allegiances. If the Ponies aren't playing, I will support Manly (lots of old mates, and a past freezing night at Brookvale with no rum), and Paramatta (Wentworthville/Toongabbie) for reasons I won't go into. But I have never barracked for the Chooks. Thanks for the courtesy of your reply.

If this was your first NRL game, would you know who the Broncos captain was?

Broncos had 44% possession for the game and it was about the same at half time I think, so it didn't even up. We had 10 errors to the Tigers 8 for the game but the Tigers missed 40 tackles and we missed only 24, so kicklotto had a bit of an influence on the game. Still, we leaked 4 tries in 12 minutes. Can't do that and expect to win. Hurts more because we were ahead of the Tigers often but we just don't appear to have any confidence and drop our lollies whenever something goes wrong :(

Man, sometimes the unexpected eventuates. This was one of those times. Good game from Wests.

I think the broncos right edge created some opportunities, but too many errors. Nearly every tigers try was on the back of gifted field position or inept broncos errors. Not sure Kotani is fully fit and mostly attacking the right edge too often loses the element of surprise.

We let in 32 points in the second half...32. I would love to know the possession stats for the second half, felt like we rarely had the ball. Of course when we did have it we made a dumb error to give it back to them.

Isaako and Croft need to go back to Intrust! That game was there for the taking Broncos and you let it slip with your poor defence! Well done Tigers. I guess all you need is for a Foxtel documentary to drop just after every game :)

I am embarrassed by that. We had them on ice and we gave it back to them. Constant dumb errors and a left side of Glenn, Croft and Herbie can not defend together. Croft and Isaako really aren't up to it and Riki needs to get the errors out of his game. Next year can't come quick enough. One or two more signings will be needed to make us vaguely competitive in the short term.

Bit harsh there Brian. Last year, my side would have been beaten by a 50+ score line. As for the Wallabies, their record in recent years has been terrible. And they are a national franchise, not a club side.

Disappointing 2nd half from the Broncos in a game they could have won. Congrats Tigers.

No hope in the world but common sense doesn’t exist in the wacky world of NRL officiating

Get the Wallabies to teach the Broncs some heart. Gutless display.
