Round 19 wraps up on the Gold Coast with the Canterbury Bulldogs locking horns with a Cronulla Sharks outfit desperate to retain their spot in the eight. Tune into the action here on The Roar with live scores from 4:05pm (AEST).

The eighth-placed Sharks are only a slender points-differential margin ahead of the Raiders in ninth, whom they lost to last week, heading into the round. Given the Raiders’ form, that could be swallowed up soon. For that reason, they are desperately after not just a win, but a big one over the lowly Dogs.

Losing prop Aiden Tolman to a suspension is inconvenient for stand-in coach Josh Hannay, but in better news, Royce Hunt has been named on the bench for his first minutes of the season. That’s about it as far as changes go from the side which went down to Canberra last week, though Toby Rudolf will move into the front row to cover for Tolman.

The Dogs went down swinging in a high-scoring loss to the Rabbitohs, which will have please Trent Barrett to a degree. Jeremy Marshall-King returns from his own suspension for the Bulldogs, which forces veteran Sione Katoa to the reserves.

Barrett has shuffled the magnets quite substantially this week, with Jack Hetherington shifting to prop, Luke Thompson to lock and captain Josh Jackson to the number 12.

What a terrible win from the Sharks. The Bulldogs were in with a chance until the last 15. Given the margin at half time and the quick bounce back from the Doggies I would be a cranky Hannay after that game.

Good observation. I actually just checked his age - 29 - because I was thinking to myself that He’s seen better days.

Disappointing Bulldogs, that one was winable. Didn't think Sharks were that much better. Suggest Barrett show video sessions showing that the Panthers' feet are never still & certainly never flat footed. Think Meaney will fit in at the Storm - I hope he fulfills his potential.

Their forwards have a bit more pace than Hopoate . Not sure how he stands for next year.

Another flogging ultimately. For some reason, I always had a soft spot for the Berries/Dogs. My uncle was Mayor of Canterbury back in the old days. I hope things start coming together for them next year. Plenty of heart - they turn up each week. Good on ‘em. Good win to the Sharks.

It wasn’t played at by the Bulldogs. It was a loose carry by the Sharks. The Bulldog was making a tackle and it’s a pity that rule doesn’t apply to kicks like Cronulla kicking it dead and getting the ball back.

Haven’t seen a lot of Dogs games this year - looks like their forwards have a go - but backs are pretty ordinary, particularly the halves?

Terrible kick by Averillo… but how in the hell was that not a 6 again for the tackle on Hopoate?

Andrew John's ??? Not sure what he thinks when he opens his mouth. He says are one of the sides that can beat Storm and Penrith , not on 46-0 and 50-0 they won't.
