Round 19 of the NRL premiership continues tonight when the Parramatta Eels take on the Warriors at CommBank Stadium in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 5:30pm (AEST).

We’ve got an interesting match up between two top eight sides tonight. Competition points in these types of fixtures are like gold so both sides will be up for it. The Eels will have to do it with three-quarters of their regular spine missing, so it is a true test of depth.

The Eels are one of the form sides of the competition right now and a top 4 finish is in their sights. They had the bye last weekend, but demolished the Dolphins 48-20 the week before, with their foot firmly off the accelerator from half time.

Parramatta has one of the best packs in the comp. From their go forward, Michell Moses and Clint Gutherson seem to be always playing off the front foot. They can blow teams off the park quickly.

Gutherson, Moses and Reagan Campbell-Gillard are all out with Origin duty. Isaac Lumelume, Luca Moretti and Shaun Lane comes into the squad. Daejarn Asi moves to half back and Ryan Matterson will play at 6.

The Warriors have been travelling along nicely but copped a reality check last weekend, losing 28-6 to the Rabbitohs in Auckland. They were trying to play dry weather football in appalling conditions, so South Sydney dominated the possession and territory statistics.

We’ll forgive them that loss. They have a pack to rival the Eels and Shaun Johnson has turned back the clock with some of his best form. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has been one of the best fullbacks in the competition. His workrate rivals that of Dylan Edwards.

For the Warriors, Josh Curran will miss the game through suspension. Johnson is awaiting the birth of his second child and may be a late scratching. If he is, Ronald Volkman will likely play in the halves.

Prediction

If the Eels were at full strength, I would pick them. However, they are missing star power whilst the Warriors are close to full strength. The Warriors will win in a close encounter. Warriors by 4

He was at the Sharks, originally brought in as a junior from Coffs. I think he had a couple of seasons at Brookie when Manly signed him before going back to Cronulla. When he was at Manly he impressed but did an ACL which limited his playing time.

Missing 3 to origin , but Brown is also very important. Gutherson also very important to them.

The Eels without Moses & Brown. I’d have thought that made the Warriors odds on? Especially also without Gutherson .

On the bright side for the Eels, they do have some quality players to come back. And they’re going to need them from here on.

Hard to judge from the nose bleeds to be fair, haha. Making it a non-factor is always the best strategy anyway.

The Eels were missing 3 players to Origin tonight however the margin of this victory was very impressive for the Warriors. The Warriors pack were dominant tonight whilst their back 3 got through a mountain of work
