Two teams destined for finals football clash as the Parramatta Eels host the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

Both these teams enter Round 16 on the back of comfortable victories. Souths were undoubtedly the more convincing of the two, putting 56 points on Manly, whereas the Eels were actually outplayed for the first 20 minutes against Melbourne’s spare-parts side. That was before a tide of penalties and possession gifted the full-strength Eels the ascendency, but it was an unconvincing performance.

The vaunted Parramatta attack has been spluttering of late, with a perenially slippery home surface potentially contributing. The home side will be keen to back up their win over the Storm with a more impressive attacking display.

Souths have had their own struggles beating top-eight sides, with just one solitary win against sides currently finals-bound. This win came against the eighth-placed Sharks all the way back in Round 1, and time is running out for the Bunnies to show everyone including themselves they are capable of beating the better teams.

Wayne Bennett’s boys put a cricket score on a Manly side who was playing for their season. That should’ve translated to desperation, especially in defence. It was evident from early on though, after Manly were caught hopelessly short multiple times, that the Bunnies had to do little more to score than spread it gently from side to side.

The margin of victory will have given Souths confidence, yet beating a side who didn’t show up is rarely good preparation for a sterner challenge.

This one might be closer than the odds would suggest, but I’m tipping a narrow win for the Eels.

Exactly. Two weak forward packs. Souths don't have the forwards to compete with Storm, Roosters, Penrith or Raiders. Stay tuned.

What planet are you on . The main reason we have won is because of our pack . The south’s pack toted with Manly’s last week and we demolished Parras this week . What more evidence do you need

Rules are the same in all states Maybe it's an old interpretation

Never heard of it. Must be a NSW interpretation. Once a player is held and stopped moving forward by 2 or more players and unable to pass it’s a held call. Guth’s feet were off the ground also.

Not over for you Ben. At least 3 wins left, 30 points and still top 4.

Great win by our boys and so satisfying, never would have predicted the score but the Eels just got through last week against a depleted Storm. I'm not predicting anything as next week is another big battle and big game especially if LM, the Jet Gagai and AJ are out but, our Bunnies will come through! Btw the prediction of me saying that we will beat the Eels was on Scotts 10 talking points from last week

Can't see them competing with any team with a strong pack of forwards

“Where can he go?” Maybe through the line? Or Matterson can avoid running straight into the back of him?

They’ve been carrying a lot of luck all year and more than a fair share of home ground decisions. This has been a reality check

(Apart from Johnston )I think they have injured themselves into a great combo. Would stick with the youngsters.

Time for Waqa Blake to go back to reggies and learn how to pass the ball, absolute HOG. Fergo will not get a try this year with such a selfish player inside him.

Souths were paying $26 to win the comp before today. They'll be a bit shorter now.

Congrats to all the Souths fans; Papi, Steven, and all the rest I’ve missed. I feel pretty damn numb at the moment. I think that’s our season done. I don’t know what else to say. Good luck to the Rabbits; the game next week should be great.

Were Souths on fire or have the Eels fallen off the map over the last 4 weeks? Bit of both. Reynolds is the bloke that makes Souths a top 4 team. He’s playing great and steering them around perfectly. It’s no coincidence that when he’s been out injured Souths have been poor.

This topsy turvy covid year keeps delivering. From here on I'm not making any predictions. The only consistency is Panthers - who SHOULD be in the GF.
