so basically the papers called them reds 150 years ago and no one ever bothered to come up with a more sensible name for a team that almost exclusively favored maroon the whole time?
Otago Man

Maybe it was not balanced but the ref will favour the side with the ball. Highlanders have suffered cold starts for many years and last night was no different.

Shrink this whole comp and have a first and second division with promotion and relegation

QLD is Maroon :boxing:

Of course, O’man they did a lot of tackling. You can see how they might have lost ‘energy’. The penalty count was lopsided. I was in the Red’s corner so I didn’t feel aggrieved. But I have to ask, in your view, was the adjudication balanced?

What commentary? I reckon three mumbling, grumbling, drunken Roarers hooked up in their Jason Recliners would do a better job.

Same here. Always insightful and solid.

Highlander has been very quiet so far this year. I do miss his thoughts.

This comment section is a copy of the one after the Chiefs beat MP, the quality of the opposition was so bad that rating the players so highly after this game is a bit naive I think.

me being an old phart, they will always be the maroons. and by the way they won 2 super championships in 94 and 95 as maroons! ancient history i know, but still, the classic maroon jersey, back to back to champions!

Yeah it’s poor at times. Lots of people giving him praise but until he cuts down on the handling errors hard for me to fully agree

You're probably aware that RA are floating a balloon about dropping an Australian franchise. Based on performance, Waratahs would be prime candidates. Merging with a NZ team would be a get-out-of-gaol from a full shut-down. There are direct flights Sydney/Queenstown, the skiing is great, and all the night-life young fit rich men want to spend money on are there too, and not much further away in practical terms than Canberra. Win-win.
