An awful song over a terrible video. First thing your last viewer did was turn the sound off. Did no one test this? And the ad told me "High energy game of big hits, no, not here, mate. You want Rugby League." 1. I sae nothing of the game. No idea about scrums, line outs and mauls, kicking, a front shot of someone dodging sideways to score. 2. Make an add appealing to teenagers outside snobby Sydney suburbs just for once. You have the strongest men in Aussie sport so where is the scene of Tongan Thor squatting more weight than an entire AFL team combined? All kids do weights now and respond in kind. They will freeze frame to count the number of plates on the bar. You have the 4th fastest sprinter in Australian history in the 7's team. Where are the shots of Quadzilla winning the Australian 100m championship and playing on the World Tour? He gave up the Olympics for Rugby so lets see some in kind reply. The Australian heavyweight champion is always a second rower. Where are the shots of him winning the belt and then playing club rugby. World's worst advertisers. If you cannot convince League players to even try Union you are dead in 20 years. Or convince AFL they might make good wingers or 7s players? 3. What would the AFL do. Never, ever show a shot of their sport with empty seats in the background. Every business just saw a reason not to sponsor.

Yes it was a pleasure to see the Force being included on an equatable basis on something produced by RA. Who did it?

I get the intent about using some older footage, cos there's a lot to choose from. I found seeing Loti Tuquiri, Mortlock etc dated it a bit, but to be fair it's pretty compelling and dramatic. Heaps better than Tom Kenneally's "Blow that whistle ref". Id probably give NRL'S Simply the best top going followed by the AFL's "I'd like to see that" I'm a rusted on sort so they ad is probably wasted on me. Kayo was getting dusted off next week regardless. Afterthought: Roar editors let's do a Gruen thing and get Todd Samson on re sporting campaigns. Then we can vote on them.

I'm really looking forward to your to see what you come up with... your creation. In the process I need to remind you, whether you know or not, your budget for this task/ production is $256.90... including GST. :silly:

I call a spade a spade and do not tolerate someone calling people a bigot when they clearly are the bigot themselves. We seem to believe that we can't call people out for this rubbish anymore. It is sad that you think this way Max as it makes you part of the problem.

Fair enough It's not that I didn't enjoy the video, just seems a missed opportunity to generate interest. Two that always come to mind for me are the NRL's 'Simply the Best' and "All Fired Up' campaigns, both make you want to watch some football. There's a weird 'remember when' feel to a lot of Aussie Rugby stuff, almost like it's admitting things used to be better. I think I've been negative enough about this now, I'm off to get some video editing software and try and do better myself.

True but it’s the yardstick we have. I watched that and was happy and enthused. I don’t think it’s a great advertisement to attract new fans but I think it’s made most Aussie fans smile. Which given how stuffed things appear to be, is not to be sneezed at

Doug I am not sure your brush is broad enough. You need to work harder on generalisation, undiagnosed anger and typecasting without evidence.

It’s certainly the promo of Aussie rugby that has made me most excited for quite some time. I don't know whether that's a great yard stick to be honest Jez

I genuinely enjoyed it. Yes it could have more scrums, lineouts, rucks and mauls but I greatly enjoyed seeing the young guys and the old. (blink and you'll miss it but the first two pieces of actual rugby action in the video are scrums, around the 47 second mark) It probably misses the mark in one respect, it's already a pretty rusted on fan that gets excited because they see Lolesio, Harrison, Bell, Wilson, Kellaway, Swinton and Nawaqanitawase and already knows who they are. Perhaps they re-engage some people that used to be fans with the nod back to Tuquiri, Latham, Mortlock, Larkham, Gerrard, Shepherd etc. Definitely that's what their trying to tap into by showing Brumbies, Reds and Waratahs title celebrations. It's certainly the promo of Aussie rugby that has made me most excited for quite some time.

No it's not. It's more of the same vapid nonsense we've been served up since the sleep inducing 'True Colours' campaign of 2003 Did anyone really get excited about this? Be honest

Over 40% of Australian kids go to private schools. The NRL have been poaching rugby union kids for years. By your logic, league is now half filled with elitist private school boys as well. You enjoy the sport you like and leave us to enjoy ours. FYI, I didn’t go to a private school.
