“We’re very pleased to announce yet another exciting summer of international cricket, with four highly-regarded nations in New Zealand, South Africa, India and Sri Lanka touring Australia,” said cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland.

“It’s a summer which will contain plenty of high-quality cricket, and some exciting new additions to the Australian cricket calendar. Overall, there are more International matches being played across more locations around the country than in previous years, and we believe this program has something for all cricket fans.

“Australian cricket fans will have access to more cricket coverage than ever following the landmark broadcast partnership with Fox Sports and Seven West Media.

“Men’s International Cricket will take a new shape, with Seven and Fox Sports broadcasting all Test Matches throughout the summer. Fox Sports will also broadcast Men’s Gillette One-Day and T20 Internationals, with further digital options currently being explored.

“All Commonwealth Bank Women’s International matches will also be broadcast on Seven and Fox Sports. And the Prime Minister’s XI and Governor-General’s XI will also be broadcast on Fox Sports, the latter for the first time.

“Canberra will host its maiden Test match, between Australia and Sri Lanka, and we look forward to giving cricket fans in the nation’s capital the opportunity to see elite Test cricket for the first time.

“We’re also thrilled to be taking international cricket to the Gold Coast for the first time, with Australia taking on South Africa in a Gillette T20 International.

“Cricket continues to look beyond its traditional boundaries by taking our game to new and exciting venues and locations.

“We welcome the chance to showcase international cricket on the Gold Coast and Canberra this summer and to provide even more fans with the opportunity to experience these matches in person.”

“Cricket has worked very closely with key partners in these regions to get to this point and looks forward to further developing our ties in the future.

“The Gabba will host Sri Lanka in a day-night Test over the Australia Day weekend, and Perth Stadium will host Test cricket for the first time.

“The Border-Gavaskar Trophy promises to be a bumper series, and it will be headlined by the world-famous Boxing Day Test at the MCG. There, we will also deliver a large-scale community festival in partnership with the Victorian Government, which will be a terrific celebration of Indian culture.

“It is our preference that we play India in a Day-Night Test match in Adelaide, but we are still working through this detail and hope to have an answer on this in the coming weeks.

“This season also promises to be a big summer for our Australia Women’s team, which will open the international summer ahead of its ICC Women’s World Twenty20 campaign in the West Indies in November. They are currently ranked number one in the world and will be looking to defend this title over the summer against New Zealand.

“Building on the success and huge public interest around the Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes last season, it is great to have our national team playing Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in six matches, all at different venues meaning the team will be accessible to fans right across the country.

“Our men’s international season structure changes slightly this summer, with Gillette One-Day and T20 International matches against South Africa and India in November. This will be a win for fans, with reduced overlap with the Big Bash.”

Night tests are easier to hide ball tampering. I am a bit of a traditionalist and and believe the tests should be played during the day. Nearly all ODI and T20 are day night night and to me that's enough.

I think that was the pitch, that game was dreadful. Nothing for the bowlers so they had to bowl to contain and the pitch was that slow the batsmen couldn't play their shots with confidence. Made for a turgid boring test. Smith reckoned he could have batted for a week in his last dig.

I thought India was very competitive when they were here in South Africa. But thought a triangular series between us (south Africa) and India and Australia Would've made better viewing building up to next year and launch the new television deal. You know getting the big boys out with a measuring stick...

India had moments during that series but lost the first test despite bowling South Africa out for 130 in their 2nd innings. They were 135 runs short in the second test despite an Indian-friendly pitch and the brilliance of Kohli. India did win the third test with plenty of help from a South African collapse of epic proportions, although the series was dead and buried by that stage. If India's bowling attack is as good as you claim, how can you justify the pitches provided for the test series against Australia last year. The first test pitch on day one was effectively like a day 8 pitch, because the grass had been scraped off it prior to the start of the test. it was so poor that O'Keefe, who barely turns the ball, was virtually unplayable. Nobody expects fast and bouncy pitches in India, but I am sure that India does have grass growing there. I actually rate the Indian quicks and think they can be effective on most surfaces. It is a shame the BCCI obviously doesn't agree with me. I look forward to see the Indian quicks on the English seamers later this year.

Fair enough. Others have made it a flat out assertion, it's probably both boards favoured option.

India just recently played 3 tests on juicy SA pitches. Competitive through out. Those days are long gone - India can give it back as good as it gets with the bowling attack right now

Cretin said, "First SEVEN internationals behind the pay tv firewall. Cricket is going down the Super Rugby, NBL basketball route of dollars before eyeballs." 100% correct mate. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Crowds, TV Ratings surge when T20 cricket was taken from Fox and shown on Ch 10?

Agree, this is a bad move. Fox may get a few more subscriptions with this, but I won't be one of them. Overall, total viewers of international limited over cricket will decline. How can this be good for the game?

He is kind of right though. Last summer we played the Ashes and how many people even bothered to show up on days 3, 4 and 5. I guess our team playing on the worst pitch ever provided in Australia had something to do with it, but still the attendance over that test was poor.

That what makes it so frustrating like India are so dominate for the fact they have different home conditions that accomdate them perfectly and contrast with so many away teams. Whenever they travel against decent opponents they get dominated. Never heard Australia complaining about the Indian conditions. India are under a false illusion SA deserves No.1 spot.1

CA can't bite the hand that feeds it? India run world cricket and can do whatever they like. They know that even Australia and England rely heavily on the revenue from Indian tours, so India can make threats like we won't come if we play in Brisbane knowing that they'll eventually get there way..

I think there is a mistake. I doubt 1st test starts 9-Dec & 2nd test begins later in the week on 14-Dec.

Slightly pedantic point, but for the womens internationals, I suspect that should read Fox Sports rather than Fox Footy. I'd be surprised if they're on 504, especaiiy the game on AFL Grand Final day. An interesting piece of scheduling is that the Gabba Test is a day-night Test, on the same weekend as the Australian Open womens and mens finals. With Ch 7 having the rights to both the cricket and the tennis in the upcoming summer, it's going to be quite a juggling act. I suspect it'll be the tennis that gets shafted to 7Mate with the cricket staying on the main channel.

First SEVEN internationals behind the pay tv firewall. Cricket is going down the Super Rugby, NBL basketball route of dollars before eyeballs. This will end with James Sutherland and his bum chums getting out with a shed load of money, but the sport of cricket irrevocably damaged. Well done greedy a$$holes!
