Seibold is safe according to Broncos CEO

By Anton Taylor / Roar Guru

After their sixth straight loss, a lot of pressure has been mounting on Anthony Seibold to be sacked and for players like Darius Boyd and Anthony Milford to be moved on from the club.

The last time the Broncos lost six straight games was over 15 years ago and after leading 10-0 at one stage against the Warriors, Brisbane fans may have thought they had it in the bag.

But an amazing performance from Blake Green and Ken Maumalo caused the Broncos to lose 26-16.

Broncos CEO Paul White called for a press conference for Sunday morning, the day after their horrific loss, and said that the under-pressure Seibold will not be sacked despite a history-making sixth straight loss.

“We are six weeks in to the restart of the game, I know we have lost six games but we started the season with two wins,” White said.

Anthony Seibold also set another record for the club but not in a good way. They were beaten 58-0 by the Eels in last year’s finals series in Week 1 and then came up against the back-to-back premiers in the Roosters and got thumped 59-0, which is the heaviest defeat in the club’s history.

The Broncos won the opening two rounds of the competition in 2020 after beating the Cowboys – who had Jason Taumalolo, Valentine Holmes and Michael Morgan – then the South Sydney Rabbitohs after a close 22-18 game.

The Broncos next week will face the last-placed Bulldogs side, who they should beat. But if the Broncos’ recent form stays as it is, then I don’t think Seibold will have a job in the coming weeks.

After the Bulldogs game, they have the Wests Tigers who are in good form. Then they face up against the heavyweights in the Storm and then they have the Sharks, who have a firing Shaun Johnson running the show.

It’s a tough month coming up for the Broncos but I urge all Brisbane supporters to keep supporting them through their tough time and success will come to the club in the next few years with a lot of youngsters ready to shine.

I don’t think he’s a fraud, he’s trying to make a simple game a science. He has about 4 laptops in the coaching box and looks at them after each try/mistake. Love or hate Bennett he keeps it simple when he talks and just watches a game

Is this like when politicians come out specifically to make a statement along the lines of "The Prime Minister has my full and unwavering support".

I think Wayne was doing more to keep that team rolling forward than many probably recognised

I get the feeling Seibold thought the Broncos wouldn’t require much work or coaching and that he had a ready made premiership contending team. He seems completely lost and out of his depth to me. I don’t think he would ever have even contemplated being in the position he is in and he certainly has no strategies to get them out of this hole. I guess what I’m saying is that I think he’s a bit of a fraud.

Really? When asked the question they can either say you are safe or you aren't.

If you cannot see the difference a good coach vs an ordinary coach makes then you're not looking hard. Nathan Brown recruited good players to Newcastle, but O'Brien has them playing FAR better. If coaches made no difference, why would clubs pay them nearly $500k - $1M p.a.?

How safe is Seibold really. Really. If he wasn’t signed to such a rich deal he would be shown the door. It must be embarrassing for the Chairman and CEO that Seibold will get a giant payout. It might cut into their own renumeration.

Seibold is Safe The board and executives have gone out on a limb to assure the fans Seibold is safe, but the pressure is mounting and surely the fans need to be listened too. Without the fans there is no game and without the fans there is no club. I think it is a perfect time for Milford to go to the Super League in England. The problem is, who would want him. Melbourne let Croft go. Cam Smith did not have faith in him and while Croft was dubbed a mini Cronk, he has not produced the form needed to hold such a name. Even if the Broncos beat the Bulldogs in round 9, they will have only beaten the wooden spooners. I think there needs to be a major broom put through the Brisbane Broncos club and this includes the Chairman and the CEO.

I say lay off Seibold. When are people going to realise that players make coaches. Not coaches make players. If you select the right players then they will produce the goods. the daze of Queensland ruling the roost are over. A new breed of young guns need nurturing to rise above the sticky heights. And it's not 'Pop goes the Broncos.'

"We won our first two games". That's looking for scraps of positives. Last year during a bad patch Seibold said "We are not looking at the competition table". Here's a tip Anthony. If you have a look at the moment don't bother starting at the top. Waste of your valuable time.

Rothfield, Kent and Hooper don't dig. Their employer owns the club, and they will be told what to say about the situation and when.

how long will they stay 100% behind him? the guy has zero credibility. there must be more to it than just a contract... perhaps a story that isn't being told? ...big enough they are willing to throw the players, any and all of them under the bus. Rothie, Kentie, Hoops, you're not digging deep enough or in the wrong place.

At the moment the only thing keeping Seibold employed is that long contract. The Broncos are an absolute rabble.
