Former Melbourne Storm premiership-winning centre Curtis Scott may try his hand at rugby union after his bid to make a comeback to the NRL has hit a dead end.
The NRL will not consider an application for the 26-year-old to be registered unless he has an offer from a club.
A potential deal to join the top 30 squad with an NRL club has fallen through, according to a NewsCorp report, so he could now try a switch to the 15-player code, the Super League or attempt to rebuild his career via the NSW Cup.
Scott was sacked by Canberra in 2021 and had a potential contract at Parramatta torn up last off-season after the NRL denied a request for registration so he played bush footy for Thirlmere in the Group Six competition.
The former Cronulla junior was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and intimidation last year for assaulting and threatening his former partner. He was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order and fined $1400.
He seemed to have the rugby league world at his feet when he won a premiership as a teenager with Melbourne in 2017.
After a switch to the Raiders in 2020, he played the last of his 23 games at the club the following year when they showed him the door.

he could be a good centre or winger but we don't really need him.. Maybe the rebels or force could use him but only on minimum chips

According to a mate with background in judicial matters, Junior could escape a custodial sentence and possibly receive community service where his carpentry skills can be put to good use.

That was a coverup as only Rupert can do it. Slip in Gordie Tallis with his vacuous leer and Ku - sorry - Kent doesn't even get a mention on court lists.

Pretty sure a 35, going on 36-year-old, who is on a train and trial contract and may get to play NSW Cup next year wouldn't exactly be their highest priority.

Isn't there a club in Japan with a grub slot free after the predictable departure of Fingers Ferguson?

Jennings has done his time so no reason for the NRL to knock back the registration. Can't work out why the Roosters are opening the door in the first place though.

NRL seem to have no issue with Paul Kent yet continue to ban a player. Odd sort of double standards. I think a drop down to amature sport whatever he plays would do him some good.

These players need to stop thinking that Rugby provides them with an option of last resort. Firstly, which SP franchise has any cash to splash out? Secondly, which team, even at Shute Shield level would be prepared to take a risk on an habitual miscreant? Thirdly, what experience would he bring to the table? Much better players have tried and struggled, most recently Vunivalu. If he genuinely thinks he could make a go of it, then let him see if he can prove it in the Subbies.

He's gone, 100%. The Dragons are just trying to control the nature of his departure, and their priorities seem to lie with money over image.

Broncos delisted TC Robati without a media fan fare, Brendan Piakura filled the void. Dragons and Roosters need to smarten up. What Mum and Grandma think about league really needs to be considered by NRL

All valid points mate, but I can't see a future for him at the Dragons.

Pretty sure the Dragons are doing what the Knights did with Danny Wicks and Russell Packer around 15 years back. Wait for the court verdict, and then use it to justify the termination. The pros of the approach are 1. that the club is not being seen as prejudicing a court case, 2. quelling dissent that they cut a potentially innocent player adrift, and 3. making a watertight case to not have to pay out the remainder of the contract. The main cons are 1. paying out the contract in the meantime, which is taking up cap space and a roster position, and 2. terrible PR for hanging onto a criminal until the last possible moment.

I’ll be interested to see what the Dragons do Tony. I think he’s in a spot of bother, as the Poms would say. He’s only got himself to blame.
