Action is starting to pick up in the 2021 AFL trade period, with the dominoes starting to fall. Join The Roar for a live blog and rolling coverage of the day’s news, rumours and action from 9am (AEDT).
Yesterday saw two trades go through and another free agent find a new home.
Luke Dunstan was the free agent signing, accepting a two-year offer from Melbourne over the likes of Gold Coast and Carlton – both of whom he’d previously been heavily linked to.
The player trade was Greater Western Sydney key forward Jeremy Finlayson heading over to Port Adelaide in exchange for a 2022 third-round draft pick. The other trade was a complex four-way pick swap involving Adelaide, Melbourne, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs – and its ramifications for other potential trades could be huge.
The pick swap saw the Crows weaken their draft hand for this season – does that complicate negotiations with Sydney for Jordan Dawson even further?
Will Brodie’s move to Fremantle looks set to be finalised and, extraordinarily, it may see the Suns also part with pick 19. Could that pick be the key to unlocking Jordan Clark’s move to the Dockers from Geelong?
We’re also still waiting to hear updates on Sam Petrevski-Seton’s move to West Coast, Callum Coleman-Jones’ move to North Melbourne and the big one in Adam Cerra’s move to Carlton.
Join The Roar for a live blog of all the latest news throughout the trade and free agency period, starting from 9am (AEDT).

His tackle of Gawn in the GF was quite fierce. Unfortunately for the Dogs, may have been the turning point in the game.

Oh Jake Kelly is a great pick up for the bombers. He fixes an area of real need in that he can play small or tall. I still think the Bombers lack a big bodied inside midfielder (Jake stringer is still more of a forward IMO), depth at the small forward position (mosquito was supposed to be that but he has retired; while Cahill just wasn’t that good unfortunately) and a key forward that can kick 45-60 goals a year.

Jake Kelly? He could help them. But yeah I think they will make finals again.

Caleb Daniel has improved so much over his time at the dogs. He has been one of those players that everyone has been following, seeing him develop. You would have to do a pick 10-15 for him if he were to be up for grabs.

I don’t think Fremantle really need Lobb. They already have Darcy and Meek coming through so I think a deal could be done. GWS just have a half-dead ruckman in Mumford, and an injury prone Braydon Pruess. They will need Lobb back.

competition for spots is a good thing, some players are up for the fight others will change clubs.

I agree with that point but 19 (21) is a highly valuable pick, it's not something to part with lightly as it's the first trade of day 2. It often gets traded for overs if a club identifies a player they like that has slid and is still on the board. You also have all night to listen to offers rather than a matter of minutes.

True, dogs are looking from within looks like Sweet has been told the No.1 ruck is his for the taking!

Overs is a point of view. In isolation 19 might be too high but if you look at it as a whole if you gave up 19 for Clark it would have cost you a future second rounder for Clark and Brodie.

He was told he is not the number 1 ruck option. If he wants to be Port is probably not the side he will become the number 1 option at with Sam Hayes coming along nicely. He can fight for his spot or leave is what it gets down to.Sounds like he chose to leave

I’ll give you pick 52 & because his contracted is back ended your lads pay half

I heard different that in his meeting he was told to look for another club & if this is true your club shouldn’t play hardball on compensation a bit similar to Stringer for the Dogs :stoked:

I have read Ladhams management made contact with Sydney [they wanted him last year in the Aliir trade] He wants more rucktime,Port told him Lycett is number 1 option still and big Sam Hayes will be pushing hard for games next year.So I believe Ladhams has instigated this,he is still contracted for next year so probably is why Port might play hardball a bit with it.But in all honesty think it will be best for both Port and Ladhams to move on, Hayes will play a bit of footy and Finylason can help out when Hayes doesnt play,

Send them off. Let the ground manager communicate with the coach. More abuse - more send offs
