It’s the match of the round on Sundar arvo as the Brisbane Lions host the St Kilda Saints in a blockbuster at The Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 3:35pm (AEST).

The Lions may sit second on the ladder, but it’s been a wobbly few weeks. After getting dismantled by Richmond yet again, Brisbane fought off the Bulldogs before getting driven all the way by lowly North Melbourne last week. Coach Chris Fagan gave the squad a hall of fame spray at half time and will demand a lift here.

It won’t be easy against the Saints, however, who rebounded from their flat effort against the Cats to blow Essendon away last week. With all of their offseason recruits clicking, St Kilda have been a revelation in 2020 and will make serious waves with a win here this afternoon.

The Lions thumped the Saints by 56 points in their only meeting last year, but St Kilda enjoyed a four-game winning run prior to that. The Saints have won four of their last five matches against Brisbane at The Gabba, but had won two of 15 prior to that.

Unnecessary Paul. The match fixing call is clearly tongue and cheek (although Hipwood surely can't be unintentionally missing some of those shots!) The need to sack the skills coach is dead set genuine though. When you rank last for accuracy, and it's getting worse, someone needs to be held to account. Denying it leads to straight set finals losses, like last year. Ease up

An accurate Brisbane simply doesn't exist. Sack the skills coach. He's manifestly falling to discharge his duties.

This is negligent behaviour from the Brisbane coaching staff. The goal kicking accuracy is getting worse. Never ever will they be gifted a better draw, and they are going to waste it through goal kicking so poor it should be under investigation for match fixing.

A match between Richmond and Brisbane could be decided by a points decision.

We'll need to significantly improve our forward half defence to be any chance. You can see it now: we'll generate enough time in forward half and inside 50s but fail to convert, and the Saints will have far too much space to work with out wide and in their forward line.

Not so sure. You will get Gawn back and he taught young Marshall a lesson last year. Vital game for both clubs. Midfields will be evenly matched. Saints should be filthy with that performance though after not being switched on at the start and in the 3rd term. Melbourne are a side that tries hard so it will be a tough game for both sides. Agree Brisbane should have been leading by much more and Saints got let off the hook. Really missing that quality in the midfield to compete with the best. Steele has become an A grader this year I reckon but can’t do it all on his own. Brisbane have become worthless in front of goal this year and it might just cost them in finals. What good is all those entries if they can’t nail easy goals? Bit of a mystery why they are failing at a key area. They are not the 2nd best side by a long stretch from what I saw. Saints have been poor in close games this year while the Lions have won all of their games decided by under a goal.

"Interesting" is putting it nicely for Melbourne: can't see us getting within a bull's roar of the Saints. Brisbane hit a wall late and St Kilda had their chances but the third quarter was a domination by Brisbane and they should have been 5+ goals up at three quarter time. But bad goal kicking keeps any opponent in the game and it wouldn't surprise anyone if Brisbane were to lose a final with more scoring shots.

Not sure Greenwood, Mihocek, Roughead and Quaynor will be enough.

Collingwood have a great record against Brisbane so you can’t rule them out and the Lions have been far from impressive for a few weeks. Not sure they are the 2nd best side after watching that. They were great for half the game today but ordinary in the 2nd and 4th quarters. They are a better side than my Saints but I reckon both sides would be a bit filthy with that performance. Saints didn’t apply enough pressure on the Lions for half the game but they looked good when they took the game on.

Pies will have a few back if not their elite missing. Greenwood, Mihocek, Roughead, Quaynor should all be back

Saints just wasted their shots in the last qtr, however, Brisbane kept Saints in it with another indiscriminate display in front of the 4 sticks.

Brisbane probably should have won by more in the end but they did nothing for 2 quarters and dominated the other two. Don't know what to make of them. Think they are just making up the numbers tbh in the top 4 but they are a great side when things click for them. Saints still have a ways to go but that isn't surprising . Hope they can win a few more before the end of the year.

I know Hipwood wasn’t the only Lion that missed, but he is the missing piece, crucial to any Finals and Flag hopes. He’s so good in almost every other area. :unhappy:

Disappointing loss. Brisbane did everything to lose that and the Saints should have overrun them in the last term. Glad the Saints kept fighting but they definitely lack quality in the midfield. On the other hand, Brisbane will get found out by better sides with atrocious kicking like that at the pointy end. Wouldn’t say either side will be contending for the flag after watching that. Big game against Melbourne next week for St Kilda, which should be interesting while Brisbane will get a depleted Collingwood after their bye.
