Fremantle can take second spot for their own and remain equal on points with ladder-leaders Melbourne when they face off against the fifth-placed Carlton in a Saturday afternoon blockbuster. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 1:45pm (AEST).
Off the back of two losses in three weeks and with inconsistency proving a concerning reality, Carlton face Fremantle in a superb Round 15 clash that could potentially have significant top eight and/or top four ramifications.
The Blues have succumbed to both Richmond and Collingwood across the last month, with a win against the Bombers wedged in between. Their form has looked solid without being sparkling and the Dockers’ challenge will probably demand something better, should they hope to claim the four points at Marvel today.
The Dockers have won their last three after losses to the Gold Coast and Collingwood threatened to derail their season, and Western Australia’s best team now has the platform from which to launch and secure a top four spot in the 2022 finals.
Victory here will go a long way towards securing that end of season position, with the Blues a team lurking near the same area of the top eight.
Team news sees Jack Martin and Sam Durdin miss for the Blues, yet a strong team otherwise named with Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay certain to be the key men in terms of producing a potential win for the men in navy.
Fremantle lose Blake Acres, Sam Switkowski and Michael Walters through injury, yet are boosted by the returns of Matthew Taberner and Michael Frederick for what looms as potentially the match of the weekend, after the Demons versus Lions match proved a walk in the park for Melbourne.
Prediction
As is the case across much of the Round 15 matches, picking a winner is proving a mighty challenging task. Carlton will no doubt use their bullish midfield, whilst Fremantle will look to rely on a structural method that has already surprised many teams in 2022.
It is a tough one to call, but the method might outwit the madness in this one and the Dockers could claw to a close-fought victory.
Fremantle by 5 points.

I may have started a fire in the rankings article though.... oops.

Oh look I'm aware of that, just don't tar us all with the same brush  There is definitely a bias there.

I wasn't sold on Henry in the other games he played but he was close to our best today. Acres and a fit NOD are still ahead of him as wingmen and Freddy plays a different role to him, Colyer is the one who's spot is in danger. Think we missed Walters and Switta's forward pressure. Switkowski in particular is a huge loss. Can't blame injuries though as Carlton had far more and were brilliant, we just have to be better than we were today.

The thing is every side in the top 8 can beat each other, that's been shown. For this loss against Carlton, we've beaten Brissie, Melbourne and Geelong so I think we will be ok, but we certainly are no flag lock.. no side is.

Can't blame the defenders for this one. The midfield had their colours lowered badly. A rare off day for a number of guys like Brayshaw, Serong and Mundy as well as a career best game for Walsh. We were well off it, hopefully it's a post bye symptom. The proof is in the pudding v Port next week.

In fairness he was one of the few bright lights today, best game he has played.

Yeah there is no doubt our defence is quality, but when a team gets a hold of our midfield like your boys did even a great defence will get breached enough times. We were completely outplayed. Carlton at their best are absolute quality, just think you've been a bit inconsistent but today were top class.

Kayo looks ok on my apple Tv 4K but I had to add the app and then delete it a few times to get it to stream well, I swapped between the Telstra TV (Kayo app)and the Foxtel go cast from my iPhone to Apple TV,and Kayo app Apple TV and both looked the same, but the phone cast played was a second or to in front.FYI :) the apple was a new Bday toy so just trying a few things out.

Looking forward to watching the reply….it seems no matter how many players we lose we can maintain a very competitive level of performance and still win games against top teams. Looking forward and very excited to getting our key players back to see how much better we can do.

His anti Stevic obsession has confused him. Poor Don.

Silly tongue in cheek remark by me for sure…direct response to Don Freo same remark about Hawks last night, Hawks good in parts but not good enough long enough…not AFL standard according to him, never posts anything positive re Hawks only takes potshots, his hatred knows no bounds can’t even be humble in victory. Similarly with Tigers, his posts tonight the anti-Tigers bias is blatantly obvious

Anyone in the top 10 is likely to be kicking enough goals. If they don't, they lose.

Freo have found someone in young Henry, he's bloody good

Worked today so I'm watching the replay now, Fisher has played his best ever game today. Kemp has been very good and needs to keep his spot somewhere in the line-up. O'Brien and Cotterell also very good. Been very impressed with Lewis Young this year, he's stood up under an enormous amount of pressure. The unsung players are the blokes that won it for us today.
