It’s the end of the road for Leon Cameron as the GWS Giants coach has his final match in charge, looking for one last win over Carlton. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 3:20pm (AEST).

Carlton will be looking to reclaim its place in the top eight on the AFL ladder when they travel to Sydney off the back of two strong wins against the Kangaroos and Crows over the last fortnight.

The mid-field brutality of the Blues has been impressive to watch thus far in 2022 and will be required again against a talented Giants group that is yet to find its best form this season.

Leon Cameron’s resignation after a decade at the help in Sydney will give his team plenty of motivation to win this one for him, yet recent form suggests that may well be far more difficult to achieve than the fairy tale writers would have. The Blues know there is plenty at stake for them as they seek to stay in touch with the competition front runners.

Team news sees the Blues dealt a cruel blow with the loss of Harry McKay, with Charlie Curnow forced to now step into the key role up front for them. Jack Martin remains out for Carlton yet the returns of Lachie Plowman and George Hewett are welcome ones.

The Giants have named an almost unchanged team to the one beaten embarrassingly by the Cats last weekend, aside from the inclusion of Conor Stone. With the players keen to send off their departing coach with an emotional victory, the likes of Lachie Whitfield, Tom Greene and Toby Green will be vital should the Giants hope to claim just their third win of the season.

Prediction

Carlton has solid form on the board and Greater Western Sydney has almost none of which to speak. In spite of the obvious tendency to side with the emotion of Cameron’s departure and the likely bump in performance of the playing group, the Blues deserve favouritism, and with their newfound fortitude, should find a way past the Giants on their home deck.

The bookies are leaning the other way and there might be some profit to be made if Carlton turn up with their usual game face well and truly in place.

Carlton by 14 points.

It is disappointing when you find out he is commentating. And no matte how low he has gone, he always finds a way to go lower.

How is it disappointing if it's true to form? It's not like he's usually good

I agree to these blokes with the exception of McGovern and Martin Col, the blokes playing now are playing like their life depends on it whereas these 2 just go through the motions. They've got no ticker for the team

BT is the worst commentator in the game. Loud, obnoxious, and most of all clueless. Would listen to the sound of his own voice for eternity - unfortunately seems like we all have to listen too. For the love of football, our ears, and our sanity, someone make it stop.

We keep getting the job done. I’m looking forward to having a crack at Melbourne. And Brisbane . Was a great win today. With all the extra emotion GWS had.

Really pleasing win against a real bogey side for the blues. Injuries to key players is frustrating but part of the game and it takes a squad and a plan to compete and play finals. For me what was really pleasing is our first picks from the last 3 years were on display today. Kemp, Darwin and Motlop and also throw in Carroll. All 4 did their job and showed they belong. Between them they barely have barely played 20 games. Net challenge the Swans on Friday night which should be a good challenge for us.

Yeah but we sometimes win the 3rd. We've only won 1 of our last 20 last quarters

Thanks mate, I take nothing for granted. Seeing Curnow injury free is something AFL fans get to enjoy.

Yeah, most of the injuries we get end up being over 4 weeks or very long term. What is the positive is that our depth has go so much better.
