The Richmond Tigers win a classic over the West Coast Eagles in one of the games of the round.

The Tigers started slow against the reigning premiers, conceding seven goals to three with Jack Darling kicking two in the first few minutes.

The Tigers responded well in the second, adding three goals and four behinds while keeping Eagles to one goal and one behind. Though despite their efforts, the Tigers couldn’t gain the lead and struggled at times to convert from set shots.

In the third term, West Coast kicked just one goal and one behind again, while Richmond add two, closing the gap to one-point at the break.

The final term was huge for both sides. Richmond added five goals to West Coasts’ four, closing out the game with a six-point victory in one of the best quarters seen all year.

Dustin Martin led the game in AFL Fantasy Points on 134, recording 35 disposals, one goal, four marks, nine tackles, six clearances, 13 inside 50s and 818 metres gained.

Bachar Houli was also big for Richmond, recording 34 disposals, nine marks, three rebounds and five one percenters on his way to 124 AFL Fantasy Points.

Tom Lynch and Jack Riewoldt kicked three and two goals respectively.

For the Eagles, Elliot Yeo was standout with 117 AFL Fantasy Points, 26 disposals, eight tackles, six inside 50s and 15 clearances.

Jamie Cripps, Willie Rioli and Jack Darling kicked three, two and two goals respectively.

Richmond move back into the top-4 with one round left in the regular season.

Despite substantial injuries in Alex Rance, Jack Riewoldt and Trent Cotchin in periods throughout the season, the Tigers have remained one of more damaging teams in the competition.

Along with the Brisbane Lions, Richmond currently hold a place as one of most in-form sides in the competition – recording their seventh consecutive win over Carlton last week.

In the contest, Jack Graham was in the form of his life – recording 22 disposals, four goals, 14 tackles and 146 AFL Fantasy Points.

Shane Edwards also starred in his 250th, kicking a goal with 27 disposals, six marks and nine tackles on his way to 127 AFL Fantasy Points.

This week, Dustin Martin and Ivan Soldo return to the side in place of Sydney Stack and Toby Nankervis.

In Martin’s last three games he recorded 111, 133 and 94 AFL Fantasy Points with four goals – including 34, 38 and 30 disposals, and 11, 8 and 8 inside 50s for each respective game.

West Coast’s season has been similarly impressive – currently sitting equal-first (third) with Brisbane and Geelong.

They have won four of their last five games – having lost to the Magpies by a point (77-78) in Round 17. Prior to that, recording three consecutive wins – with five more preceding them.

In last week’s match-up against the Adelaide Crows, West Coast walked away 10-point victors (90-80).

Jack Darling was in terrific form, recording three goals, 16 disposals, nine marks and seven tackles, on his way to 120 AFL Fantasy Points.

Jake Waterman and Oscar Allen also kicked three goals apiece, while Andrew Gaff and Luke Shuey led West Coast in disposals with 29 each.

Gaff continues to average the fourth most disposals (31.8) in the league, while Shuey sits eighth in clearances (6.5) and Elliot Yeo places first for total tackles (148).

This star-studded midfield, along with their two big forwards in Jack Darling and Josh J. Kennedy, present a big chance of upsetting Richmond’s reign.

This contest could fall either side, but the Tigers hold the home advantage.
