The Western Bulldogs face a crucial trip north to take on Sydney as Round 18 begins. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:20pm (AEST).

The Dogs could slip out of the top eight entirely with a loss here, but a victory would leave them sitting in equal-fourth for the night at least. The stakes couldn’t be higher for Luke Beveridge’s men.

The Swans, meanwhile, have slumped to 15th in what is becoming a nightmare year following their 2022 grand final breakthrough, but they are still just two wins and percentage outside the eight, so a late run could well salvage their season.

The Dogs have lost under-pressure star Bailey Smith to illness, while a statement has been made by dropping underperforming recruit Rory Lobb, with young father-son Sam Darcy back in the team for the first time since Round 2.

The Swans will be missing defender Jake Lloyd due to concussion as one of four changes made, with ruckman Tom Hickey a surprise omission.

I wouldn't go that far but it sucks when a bad decision decides a football game. It wont be the last time. Bad luck Naughty, I'm a closet doggie lover and picked them. I know everyone blames the coach but whats going on in the Kennel? Has Bevo had his day? This team on paper should be doing better.

Bwahahahahaha. In ya dreams, Donsy. There are some very ordinary teams among the 5th to 14th grouping but Freo are beyond ordinary. It would be a travesty if they made finals . . . they won't!

As others have said. Right now the mids are the strength. Soon it will be the fwds. You normally need them all on song at the same time.

Blues to beat Giants in last round then sit back and watch the Cats maul the Dogs. Blues 8th, Dogs 9th, possible scenario ?

Ahh the irony is glorious. When the refereeing goes their way, it's all about 'good training and discipline' and 'wouldnt have affected the result'. When it doesn't, it's a conspiracy.
