The West Coast Eagles are looking to keep touch with the top four, while the Essendon Bombers will look to play spoiler at The Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 8:10pm (AEST).

With doubts hanging over their ability to win away from Perth lingering, the Eagles did themselves no favours after being comfortably beaten by Richmond on the Gold Coast last week. The Tigers are obviously one of the contenders, but the manner in which West Coast were brushed aside after halftime had to be concerning.

They’ll go up against an Essendon side full of confidence after the return of Joe Daniher saw them reel in a hefty halftime deficit against Hawthorn last week and post a famous 16-point win. Still very much in the finals race, they’ll back themselves to push their opponents all the way tonight.

The Eagles won both of their meetings with the Bombers last season, including the elimination final by 55 points. The Dons had won the previous two meetings, however, and have taken the points in four of their most recent five clashes away from Perth.

Agree, my point is that the Eagles rely heavily on clearances, especially centre ones, and when Nic Nat tires, they lose their one wood. I don’t have any stats to back me here, but I would think the Eagles score a lot more in the first half than the second.

good on you fellas a win is a win and we'll take it. Flyin Ryan you star!! I liked Duggo in the guts to , a big bodied mid similar to the bull Yeo. A few boys should be back on Sunday like JK & Waterman to tackle the dogs so that will make things very interesting. The down side for me is on last nights performance i cant see Jetta getting an extension on his contract next year. minimal possessions, no tackles and a point, i think enough is enough.

I'd love to see Joey Daniher turn into an iceman dead eye dick sharp shooter. It's the emotion of fear that scatters the attention and causes inaccuracy under pressure. Fear can be defeated but not by being scared of it. It's the fear that scares our set shot shockers. We can't talk about this as emotions are taboo subject. We can marvel at a teams turn arounds at half time and wonder how they do it. Our emotions are ours to play with and that includes winning feelings. Put simply good footy comes from good feelings. The culture at Richmond is the perfect example.

I thought the Eagles largely controlled the game, particularly in the last quarter.

Surprising given that Essendon went in with such a tall side. A few players need to be rested next game. Hurley looks all banged up.

He is a burst player, not everyone needs to be able to run a half marathon in a game.

Please name the Tigers 2nd best 22 and the strengths and weaknesses of each player? You can’t and either can I! I love a passionate fan as much as the next guy but please, display some common sense!

Another thing. HURN... had his best game in a while. Nice to see.

Thought Geelong floated his name for Kelly trade? I always look at him as very good trade currency. He has a lot of potential, yet to be seen, but undoubtedly there. I hope we don’t give him away before he hits his straps. Because I’m certain we’ll regret it. Also, hopefully he hits his straps soon. Has shown good flashes here and there, but not consistent.

Wyy would they be flat? They have only flown to the other side of Australia and played 3 matches in 9 days.

Again tonight, Nic Nat struggles to run out a game. When he fades the Eagles fade. When he’s up & running, nearly unstoppable. Happened against Richmond also.

If the Eagles drop another game, we might be seeing you in Week 1 of finals again ;)

I coached Brander at GGS, had an injury plagued last year before draft year but he'll be a jet. Hopefully we'll hold onto him. What makes you think he'll go back there? Boarded at GGS but had no connection to the area apart from school..

Eagles of course are right up there, but I think Geelong are the team to beat at the moment.

Agreed - perhaps that could fix the Eagles' 'too tall' issues once JK retires. Park him at FF, but then we miss his spark around clearances.

Kicked more than 1/3 of our total score for the game in 5 minute period. Not going to win games like that.

Ryan’s accurate kicking is what I’ve been most impressed by this year. He was very good at not finishing off brilliant marks last year. Has really improved this part of his game. He’s going very well.

That was pretty unconvincing, but there is hope for the future in terms of key position stocks. Probably need another wingman to take over from Gaff going forward. The one thing I'll note for tonight is that Ryan played an extremely disciplined game - stayed down when others were flying, slowed the game down when needed, directed play, and had his own hard-ball gets - probably the best I've seen him play.
