Therein lies the problem with the AFL letting players punch each with only the risk of a free. If they they suspended players for gut punches (I would have sworn they said they were going to) then players would stop punching each other and incidents like Gaff one would stop happening. It is also time they changed the rules for Brownlow eligibility. If you are suspended or fined then no votes that game or games you don't play obviously and that's it. Not that I necessarily agree with this, but the AFL have shown they can't do the right thing by the game when top players get themselves in hot water. It would have the benefit of allowing a player who might accidentally bump someone in the head and get suspended still being eligible which would be a good way to sell such a change.

Yes you can peter. You can't assault somebody in a contact sport and you can't assault somebody in everyday life.

Not arguing that point, just taking exception to you comparing a contact sport to life. Can’t compare the two.

Aussie rules footy isn't about throwing elbows and fists at peoples faces either Peter. Go as hard for the ball or the man in a fair tackle or a bump, fists and elbows to the head is completely different. I can't see how anyone can argue with that.

I agree. I hate relativism. You should be suspended for your judged culpability not the injury caused.

How is this any different to what Gaff did? Gary connects with teeth same result. Gary actually looked like he was trying to clock him in to head where as Gaff was trying to hit the chest. Either way terrible look for the game.

I know Ablett has been booed the past few weeks. RichieTiger is not a real person so again what’s the point in the social media account saying to the AFL you’ll boo Ablett.

Aus, they way I look at it he is constantly under the microscope and is constantly thumped by the opposition. But I think he has been silly. The diving we will have to disagree. This is not just an Ablett issue. Blight on the game.

He's behaving like a doorknob Pete. Three times in 4 weeks. No one else is carrying on like him.

It wasn't the GAblett smack that sent him to the ground. It was the push while he was off balance from the other Geelong guy (#34 I think). No dive. But on the real question. GAblett really has to get this rubbish out of his game. He pushes the edge time and time again, and gets reprieve after reprieve from the AFL. If his name wasn't Ablett he would be spending regular time on the sidelines.

This is going to be the entire 2019 season: Ablett smacking blokes in the face, gets off at the tribunal.

He threw 2 punches. The second doesn't look soft to me. Besides nothing soft about a clenched fist to the face.

He playing great footy when he's not doing dumb stuff like the elbows and punches. But hey, it isn't going to matter much, Brownlow wise, because he will be ineligible.

The club will take 1, so he is up against the Tigers. I just can’t believe we will miss him play when he is in such good form for something so soft. And doesn’t he learn?

I said he was slowing down and doing what Judd did in his final years , never whacked blokes before this is logical reasoning why he suddenly is now.

Fair enough. I think he deserves 2 but it will be 1, as intentional, high contact, low impact. I think Soldo was unlucky, that's all.

maybe your right but the umps do like him. Even so he is not too old and too slow. Apart from the getting cited by the MRC each week, he is enjoying his footy.

Still not going to be top 20 in the Brownlow, plenty of better blokes out there and at Geelong IE Kelly, Stewart, Duncan.
