The Newcastle Knights and Melbourne Storm will face off in Sunday afternoon NRL from McDonald Jones Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 2pm AEST.
Where will Knights’ points come from? That’s the question of the week with just three players who have scored more than two tries this year and two of them are out this week – Dane Gagai and Dominic Young. They’ve crossed the stripe just four times in the past four matches, all losses, with three of those in the one game against St George Illawarra. And they’re up against the team with the third-best defence in the NRL.
It’s been smooth sailing for the Melbourne Storm and the biggest question for them is whether Ryan Papenhuyzen can break a long standing record.
The Storm fullback has opened the season with 10 tries, 30 goals and a field goal for 101 points in seven appearances. Manly’s Reuben Garrick, when he scored 334 last year, went close to breaking Hazem El Masri’s all-time record of 342 set in Canterbury’s 2004 premiership-winning campaign. If he keeps up his current rate of 14.43 per game, Papenhuyzen would break the record if he played every match of the regular season without needing the playoffs to boost his tally.
Kick-off: 2:00pm AEST
Venue: McDonald Jones Stadium
TV/Stream: Kayo Sports, Foxtel
Betting: Knights $8.50, Storm $1.07 – odds via PlayUp

I said on this forum 3 weeks ago, that Ponga is not up to standard, with only one game in five or six, against a lower team, any good. Ponga is a waste of space. Plus he is a useless captain.

Him and every other player that has taken that road. Meaney has a constant smile on his face and why wouldn't he? If it's a choice between money or Melbourne, the smart choice would be Melbourne every time.
I dont like the Storm, they have a real meanie on the wing.

Tend to agree, Coastyboi. He tried all game, but to me, he is not a superstar.

To the utensil shop to buy a wooden knife and fork to complete the collection. It's becoming pretty apparent that AOB doesn't know what the problem is or how to fix it. Six in a row and they are getting worse. Injuries aren't the issue. The attack is toothless. The fifth tackle kicking is often just put it up and hope. The defence is fragile. There's a lack of strong leadership. Other than that I think it's solvable

I think its just the melbourne system . Ponga would be the best player in the game if he was at melbourne.

Wayne should do the politely thing & buy Ponga a beer. And to thank him, personally, for not joining the Dolphins. * wipes sweat from forehead * Phew!

Not sure where the Knights go from here.... Storm look unstoppable, so can't wait for their game against Penrith in Magic round!

  :cricket: yes and enjoying the $$$'s he's already retired, the Knights should get him a picnic pack behind the dead ball line as all he's got to do is turn up!

I'd be interested to hear O'Brien's and Ponga's take on the game.

Yep ! Its a shame the Knights didn't recognise what they were ignoring for a couple of seasons ? He's now a machine for the Storm and has covered for the loss of Welch.
Agreed.

I think the 2 points taken by the Kinghts just before half time was probably the turning point.
