Round seven of NRL action concludes at CommBank Stadium as the inner west derby between Parramatta Eels and Canterbury Bulldogs kicks off. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4.05pm AEST.

The Eels will be buoyed at getting back to winning ways, but their performance against the Tigers showed that they are anything but premiership contenders.

Granted, the Eels have had a tough draw but they never should have let their opponents back after taking an early 12-0 lead. Co-captain Junior Paulo is back from suspension, pushing Wiremu Grieg to the bench.

The Bulldogs have not shown much in attack, but they have fought tooth and nail this season regardless of the result. The injury woes were meant to end after Josh Addo-Carr had a freak injury against the Rabbitohs on Good Friday.

To add insult to injury, Viliame Kikau injured his pec at training, and will miss a fair amount of action. Braidon Burns replaces Addo-Carr, while Tevita Pangai Jnr and Raymond Faitala-Mariner return from injuries.

Prediction

The Eels have missed the services of Reed Mahoney from dummy half, which has been evident in the early rounds of the 2023 NRL season. Mahoney has been arguably the best Bulldogs player this season. If Mahoney wins the battle of the dummy halves against Josh Hodgson, the Bulldogs could conjure up an upset at Parramatta. Bulldogs by 4.

And if you play the NRL Triumvirate teams, Panthers (x2), Storm (x2) and Roosters (x1) and also the Sharks (6th), Manly (4th) and Broncos (1st) in the first 10 rounds?

It seemed pretty uneven, even to a neutral with money on the Eels

Thank you all for joining this afternoon. I am off to watch some IPL later tonight and I’ll be back calling a few games next round, starting off with Rabbitohs vs Panthers. Till then, enjoy your weekend, take care and an early goodnight

FULL TIME PAR 30 CBY 4 The scoreboard is not a true reflection of the fight shown by the Bulldogs. Their injury woes continue to worsen, as grit and determination is not enough to get them the victory today. The Eels should have scored close to 50 points tonight, but they did more than enough to get a comfortable victory. However, their performance must improve if they are to challenge the Broncos next week. The Bulldogs will take on the Sharks next week as Cameron Ciraldo scraps around desperately hunting for fit troops

No he doesn't. As I said, he's not a winger. Would be more effective as, perhaps, a centre or an 8 where his size would be an asset.

Hej from Sweden, Arnab- I wouldn’t travel there anytime soon after your Zlatan sledge. Regardless, they said “Du ar en bra kommentator” which for clarity means you are a good commentator, not that you comment on bras

Thanks for a great call AB. The Eels won this comfortably and congratulations to supporters. But it seemed to be a ground out effort against a low ranked team. Report card for Parra? Can do better.

Didn't think the Eels were that good - just had their regular team available. Dogs were brave, under the circumstances, but there's no points for bravery. Nice call, again, thanks, Arnab.

9-3 penalty count… that doesn’t count things like the dud forward pass call or the dodgy obstruction or the no call on markers not square
