Round 4 of the NRL season continues this afternoon when the South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4:05pm (AEDT).
The Rabbitohs are not playing for their season as yet, but they desperately need a win to stop the noise around the club. They have stuck solid to the team dismantled by the Roosters last round, with only two changes. Cam Murray and Jack Wighton both make the cut despite injury clouds, with Sean Keppie and Siliva Havili dropping out in favour of Shaq Mitchell and Michael Chee Kam.
The Dogs are unchanged, but may opt to bring Josh Addo-Carr in if he proves his fitness.
The Rabbitohs simply need to win this to kickstart their season. Rabbitohs by 10

I wouldn’t consider the hacks on Fox or the other Newscorp outlets as media, however your point is correct

Taaffe could do that from the halves. His defence though could be a draw back in the defensive line.

Let's keep this tipping success going tonight please David.

Was thinking more his chip for Tracey's try but agree with you that a move to the halves, then Crichton to fullback and Burton to centre may be the way to go

That comment surprises me. Which roosters players do you reckon “strut around” and don’t work hard?

Let’s hope so. If these sides can improve, fingers crossed Sutton and Klein can too

Careful, you’ll have the mainstream media after you for questioning the Roosters credentials.

Bottom 3. The Titans are more than capable of dishing this up.

It's a long season both teams will improve...

Yes, you are spot on, Shaq and the others need to have a real go every week which I’m not putting my house on so that is where the problems are as Burgess and Murray are the only ones that are having a go, all the rest are making up the numbers. Giving away silly penalties and just asking to be pinned down in their 20m for 1/3 of the game is not what this side has done in the past. The Bunnies need to improve 100% in effort to be competitive as the way that they are going, they will not be higher than 14th on the NRL ladder in 2024. Lets see what happens as things are not looking very promising after this game even though they won.

Souths and the Roosters remind me of each other – full of stars and they strut around believing all the hype about them but they don’t want to work hard to get the results. Can’t see either of them challenging for the flag this year. It took an outsider- a bloke from Orange in NSW – who played 242 games for the Raiders- to show Souths what was required to win NRL games. The rest of them look slow, unfit and disinterested.

"Taaffe was high quality for the Bulldogs today" And yet Taaffe still has 0 line breaks and 0 line break assists as usual and still continues to get rag-dolled and dragged back 8 - 10 metres on kick returns. I think he would do better in the halves.

He’s the most under utilised centre in rugby league. Generally a class act, but you won’t see it under this current Canterbury structure. He never gets early ball.

I can hear the presser now “ we were all off our best but found a way to win. It’s the sign of a great team”

Thanks for following the blog this afternoon. Don't go too far as I will be back in 90 mins for a much awaited Queensland derby

And Canterbury playing tired at the back end having played with 12 men from a sin bin and down to only 2 on the bench from concussions (for the entire second half?). Canterbury looked less potent when the fox went off concussed at end of first half.

Score wise, a gripping game but that's about all it had to offer. Both teams are where they belong on the table with South's defence saving them this time. Canterbury fired blanks all game, having very little in attack although, at times, their defence was solid but not enough. Well done Souths, a win is a win.

That game looked like the bottom two teams in the comp. Zero imagination in attack despite countless oportunities to try something different.

Zero confidence. They spent the last 25 minutes trying not to lose the game rather than win it. Positives were the lack of error, Shaq had his best game, they were absolutely hammered by Sutton in the penalties too. In saying that, not sure any side’s fans will be rushing to buy GF tickets.
