Are these penalty goal antics from Jahrome Hughes against the spirit of the game?

What was he thinking?

Because of what Hughes did, they should have made Flanagan take the kick again - then he would have missed!

In May Day, yes you had to stand still and I vaguely recall you couldn’t stand under the posts. For me, if he misses the kick, give him another go. Remember Ray Price and his goal kicking stance (for those too young - google it). Didn’t move, but was a distraction I reckon.

I was simply suggesting..... players like Hughes could push unstable players over the edge...... with rotten behaviour like that.

I was very surprised he got away with bringing so much attention to himself while he was offside. Pretty rough recollection of it from back in my day but I thought that resulted in an additional shot rather than a retake, and so potentially four points.

That's a hall-of-famer right there.

It is definitely not in the spirit of the game (so not surprising that it's a storm player) and is yet another easy thing to police that refs let slide to the game's detriment. Playing the ball on the mark is another big one that falls into this category.

I think he’s suggesting Mitchell is a Prima Donna

I've seen some people on this site really twist themselves in knots trying to get a dig in at Latrell Mitchell when it has no relevance at all to the topic at hand but this is something else...

Simple rule he gets another shot. Could probably get 10 min in the bin for a professional foul and that would put it bed very quickly. Mind you plenty of players are moving and failing to stay behind the try line when kickers are kicking conversions.

Yes, the NRL need to address this issue. Lets start with a 10K fine. Latrell Mitchell was the top point scorer last season with 278 points, this season he hss scored just 4 points. However if he was kicking goals this season and he missed due to Hughes unsporting antics....then the boys with the butterfly nets may be required after Mitchell starts crying uncontrollably non stop until Bennett tap on the back of the melon eases the truama. Yes a 10K fine is adequate punishment for this Hughes fool.

Yes, it is The rule used to be you had to stand still and the penalty could be retaken if missed Hardly a massive issue for the game but I don’t think it’s good to let these things slide

Well, you definitely look like a pork chop when it doesn't have any effect.
