Hi TB, I do agree with you but, in this case the only reason I watched it on "The Roar" (as I hear it on radio in the news) is because "The Roar" is a very good media to "express your view" and that is why I watched it, otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered as I know that this is just another one of the medias, gutter journalism!

Fully agree with you Mango Man, I very rarely watch "Free to Air" and the only reason why I'm watching it at all now, is because of the footy and the equine racing channel, as its been messed up with all sorts of nonsensical sensationalism and mostly political "Fake News". This Ben Barba thing has just gone over the top , yes, he's done wrong but, leave him alone and give the bloke a chance! It would be much more constructive if the media and especially the NRL would try to help Ben and not completely put the knife into him! Very sad!

You and I might not have a problem, but the courts would.

If Ben lamped that journo right in the chops I would have no problem with it. The guys had his lifes work ripped away from him and hes got nobody to blame but himself. To still follow him around with a camera is disgusting behaviour, and shows what the media is really all about.

He’s at a very low point in his life, this is a time that brings out peoples worse qualities. Leave him alone, let him move on. He’s probably feeling very low on all levels, we all know he’s done wrong but give him a chance to mend himself and his life.

My original comment didn’t get published. I think I swore too many times. Sorry ‘The Roar’. The big thing I don’t get is the forty is on the same channel! It is theirs to promote. Oh, but not in a good way. They just want to get any views, as many times as they can. That channel acting like they love the game every ad. Why would they let this segment air?

Where's the NRL duty of care now. They rightly deregistered him and now media harassing him. What if something bad happened to him because of media harassment.

Also we all need to avoid "click bait" topics that have been done to death. For example the "De Belin banned, ARLC enacts no-fault law" story that currently only has 3 posts after being up for 8 hours (as @ 5pm 12/3). I don't think there is anything more that any of us can add to that topic, do you?

Yep. Do you see any body from 9 chasing Karl "Step over toe hold " . He's one that has stuck the boot in whenever possible. Not last likely.

I agree with the majority of you. Leave the bloke alone.

Yeah agreed. So if we want an end to this rubbish, the answer is we need to be a bit better and to maybe think twice before clicking into this stuff...particularly when it was as obvious as this one.

"I was pretty sure I knew what I was going to see by the headline and the still shot. But I still pressed play. Why? Why did any of us?" THAT is the crux of the problem TB. The very essence of "click bait". We ALL clicked, we ALL bit, and we ALL got caught with the same hook. As long as there is an audience for this rubbish then there will be no incentive for journalists to raise the bar. I'd like to see Beau Ryan with a microphone and camera follow this chump around and see what he gets up to in private. Ben Barba's association with the game has ended. Don't hound the guy into committing a rash, desperate act just to "sell soap".

It really time for the media to leave Barba alone, what more could he possibly offer to the public? He has lost pretty much everything. I would love nothing more than to write an article stating it's really time to focus on the footy now that the season kicks off this Thursday and that its time to leave the Barba incident in the past as he will be dealt with by the courts for his crimes, not that that will do any good, as really what more does the man have to lose? The initial reaction to something to usually the best one and turning away from articles like this is the best thing to do. No matter how many comments this article gets, it wont stop this kind of nothing journalism

It's a sad indictment against the hypocrisy and sensationalistic nature of modern journalism that I find myself actually defending Ben Barba. PLEASE lift your game journos and don't back me into a corner where I feel forced to defend Matt Lodge or James Roberts! That would be a "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" moment, surely?

Yeah what about his privacy? He is no longer an NRL player so leave him alone - he is probably struggling...

Journalists who had lost their jobs in America recently had a cry about people on Twitter making fun of them losing their jobs. They couldn’t handle people mocking them when the reporters often used dirty tactics against people such as this treatment of Barba

Pretty much agree with the majority here. Leave Ben Barba alone. He is not an NRL player anymore. He is just another private citizen. The only people he is answerable to are his family and current employer.

Did ACA ever chase their former "reporter" Ben McCormack? I recall they reported on it, but don't remember them hounding him which is ironic given the number of screen doors he knocked on in his time badgering people in their homes.

Free-to-air tv now relies entirely on (in no particular order): 1. Reality shows 2. Sport 3. Tabloid journalism No one watches anything else on FTA tv so their journalism sinks further into the gutter every day. This piece reminds me of that South Park episode where the media persues Brittney Spears until she dies from it.
