The ACT Brumbies are looking to break their Super Rugby Trans-Tasman duck when they host the Hurricanes at GIO Stadium. Follow along with Saturday night rugby with live scores on The Roar from 7:45pm (AEST).
The Brumbies’ defence has so far struggled to cope with the three New Zealand side’s they’ve played, conceding over 30 points in each of their three games.
Following a gutsy performance in defeat to the Crusaders in Round 1, Dan McKellar’s team has been disappointing, soundly beaten by the Blues and the Chiefs. However, this will be their first match at home for the tournament – perhaps a return to familiar surroundings can prompt a spark in form.
The Hurricanes remain undefeated in Super Rugby Trans-Tasman following three impressive wins, but facing the Brumbies and the Reds, arguably the two best Australian sides, in their final two matches will be a challenge. That the Crusaders failed to secure a bonus point against the Force yesterday, though, works in their favour to grab one of the two spots in the tournament final.
There is a fair list of ins for the New Zealanders for their trip across the Tasman: coach Jason Holland has named captain Ardie Savea in the starting team after returning on the bench last week, while Julian Savea and Dane Coles are also back from being rested against the Force.

"21-4 for mine." I'd love to see that. Fascinated to see how a team can score 4 points!

He has the guts to go for the intercept too and the skill to pull it off.

Mug, I agree with your 2nd point. Kiwi sides have always been great at selecting which ruck to seriously attack. Often they may only have 1 token man with his head in the ruck, they spot an opening or small error and its all in. Excellent at knowing the laws and reading the play. Brumbies, and to a point Force, are the only two Aussie sides which come close to that level of ruck attention.

Nick Berry. Seriously.

He has the speed for wing and I rate him as a hard man to stop.

yep - kuenzle, Hanson and most importantly FINES! Fines is a massive win for the force who have also signed Rodda.

In the Wallabies he could start offin the 23 jersey and probably substitute on for a winger to begin with, he played there in the Reds a lot. That way he would be learning in a decent defensive system.

Training yes but 13 is a difficult defensive position and I think he also needs time to learn and see if he can develop that 13 defensive instinct. I see him as the key problem in the tahs backline as the 13 channel is where all the space is for attacking teams to exploit. To be fair, it would be interesting to see him playing outside a 12 like Toomua or Simone who are specialists organisers who can tell him what to do....the current tahs backline has no leaders in it.

And it's interesting how the brum set piece goes up another gear again when Neville is in the team. He's a lynchpin

I didn't mean to, I just thought that's what he was alluding to. I can't recall seeing him post before so wasn't sure where he was coming from. Totally agree, can't think of many home crowds who could be considered totally respectful bar Japan.

Canes.. they’re getting better and better at digging their own grave. A lot of All Blacks in that team that aren’t performing.

Hmmm.. after watching the Canes this tournament. I’d say the Reds are a possibility in Wellington, especially if the Reds attack similar to the Chiefs game. The Hurricanes defence is terrible!! The Reds should find plenty of opportunities. J Barrett kicking is getting worse. So if nothing else that will allow the Reds to stay in the game. But, in saying this.. The Hurricanes should be furious with gifting that game to the Brumbies.. so the Reds might bare the brunt of a lot of frustration. Good luck bro

Paulo personally if a player doesn't require a HIA it shouldn't be RC in the first place. People will say it should be the action punished, not the result. Ok, but what about players tackled in the air? It comes down to how they have landed, all very Inconsistent.

Agree Markus, I think he is on track to be a very good WBs 10 with another season under his belt.
