The All Blacks host the Wallabies on Sunday afternoon at Eden Park, Auckland. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 2pm (AEDT).

‘Get Even’ Park. This is the place where the All Blacks exact their revenge on the Aussies to quash dreams of winning the Bledisloe Cup.

» Match result: All Blacks dominate second half to win Bledisloe 2

Last year, the Kiwis massacred the Wallabies via a 36 to nil score, following a rare Aussie win in Perth. In 2014, the Wallabies were dismantled by 31 after a 12-all draw in Sydney.

Lately, the losing margins in Eden Park have been embarrassing for the Wallabies. The All Blacks’ margins from matches played in 2018 backwards to 1988 were 28, 27, 31, 22, 16, 6, 29, 14, 7, 10, 10, 4, 19, 12, 3, 10 and 12.

This was preceded by an Alan Belford Jones-coached Wallaby win in 1987, 22 to 9. The only two other winning occasions were the year the Soviets detonated their first nuclear device (1949), and the year the McDonald’s franchise started (1955).

So while a lot of pundits are excited about a possible win via a Dave Rennie-inspired renaissance, I am not.

Eden Park is a fast track. The All Blacks are fast. Even the best Wallabies team ever put together 30 years ago could not beat them there.

The All Blacks changed a bunch of players as Ian Foster moved out the underperformers. He brought in Beauden Barrett to rejoin his brother.

Today, the Wallabies installed a faster back row with a better lineout by shifting Pete Samu out and Ned Hanigan in. If they can retain their good defensive performance, the Wallabies can hold their heads high. But their main job, as it was last week, is to control the pace of the game.

Prediction
The entire southern country is mad. The All Blacks are mad. The plan to get even. It will be in Eden Park. The alternative would be even crazier than last week’s match.

JOC didn't do anything influential today. Not entirely his own fault as his forward pack didn't give him much to play with. If Toomua can get up in time to lineup at 12, Lolesio should come into 10 and JOC can sit on the pine. If Rennie really wants to set the standard and go to in form players, that's the selection that has to be made. Uelese has to start the next one. He's done well from thr bench and the scrum looks slightly less rickety with him in there. Isi Naisarani needs to be called up. I wasn't a Banks fan but he looked ok today. I prefer DHP but that one's a coin toss.

Joni? Well Ken the passion is palpable! So many new names commenting on the Wallabies at the moment. Dave's Rennivations are underway. I think it's great! Be interesting to hear your views.

Yep...said it last week and got howled down. JOC is a 12, and a decent one, he is not a 10.

That was one of the worst tackling efforts I can remember. Worst offenders for missed tackles; Hooper 5, White 5, JOC 4 and Paisami 4. Just not good enough at this level. Hooper’s miss on BB was pathetic, no arms and BB just swivelled out and kept going. Based on last week’s axings those 4 must be in serious risk of being dropped.

Hanigan, Harry? You are not an Aussie are ya mate? Funnily enough one mate pregame mentioned Ned’s selection with derision. I noted that Rennie might know more about him than we do. It was a great laugh cheering Ned on when he momentarily shone.

to be fair tho it was the backline position we were always a bit light on for decent cover if the 10 or 12 went down so the difference is likely exaggerated. if lolesio comes on and oconor shifts to 12 i think it goes a fair bit better

you say hodge can cover 10 out but the 12 goes down and he doesnt get on. not really covering value if he's there as the second cover option for the same positions

Defensively Toomua needs to start but at 10 or 12? Disagree with your second point. Hodge is a good bench player because he can cover every backline spot from 10 out. Petaia is straight out outside back and should be there or perhaps starting next game.
