The ex-Wallaby settled with the governing body for an undisclosed amount, after his contract was torn up, following religious comments on social media.
obviously you have a poor grasp of the language we use everyday if you think he was discriminated against for his religious beliefs. He just wasn't able to spew whatever he wanted whilst representing RA. This has been explained so many times. Can't people comprehend, don't they understand English? The same would apply if a Muslim or a member of the Westboro Church made discriminatory comments whilst in someone's employ - even if they tried to hide it under some paraphrased biblical passages.
But wasn’t it not about money and about setting a precedent for freedom of religion?
If it was only about money then maybe he won (depending on what he got), but considering he said it wasn’t about money how could he possibly have won?
train if IF walks away and accepts his sacking he gets nothing. By fighting it he gets a settlement....Folau "won" by getting something that RA was never going to give him if he didnt fight.
I can't believe how many people think that Israel Folau polarised to Rugby Australia.
He did NOT. Mr.Folau apologised to the game of rugby. The statement is very pointed and cleverly worded to clearly show that Mr. Folau is NOT apologising to the corporate body that discriminated against him for his religious beliefs. In contrast, the apology from Rugby Australia to Israel Folau could not have been more clear cut.
How do so many people have such a poor grasp of the language we use everyday?
The Social Media Post reflected Mr Folau’s genuinely held religious beliefs, and Mr Folau did not intend to harm or offend any person when he uploaded the Social Media Post.
Doesn't get much clearer than that. RA saying they got it completely wrong.
Castle cannot keep her job after this episode. Could you have just paid out his contract to begin with, but now $8 million to the Folaus, millions to RA's lawyers, grovelling apology to the Folaus for their shabby treatment.

He'll never be a public speaker - if he was interested in politics his career would be shorter than Mal Meningas!

It's like being at church again. A lot of the videos produced for churches has that eerie music

It was a joint statement. Pretty obvious this was a contribution from Folau's side. It does not say what you think it does.

Maybe / maybe not a money win for him personally, but no sort of win for what he said he was fighting for. Personally I think him a complete fraud.

i think you will find the insurance people forced a settlement rather than Castle or even RA. It is what it is...Time to move on.

Why should this person be given any more media attention. His views belong in a long ago bigoted uneducated world and should not be voiced again.
