This is at least the 4th or 5th time KB has made a very bad read and/or bad attempt in defence this season. How on earth could he be picked ahead of Banks or DHP at fullback for the Wallabies? He is good off the bench for later in games where there is more broken play and lack of structure and one-on-one defence is less important or he is up against a more tired opponent. He simply cannot start in the run on 15.
Poor tackle attempt for sure however I’ll give credit to Beale for being in the right place. Folau wouldn’t have even been near the player to make a tackle because of his poor defensive decision making and lack of interest in defence.
AAC is past it, he went for a run in front of me at the Reds game last week and took forever to get up. He wasn’t hurt, just exhausted and should do himself a favour and retire, he isn’t going to achieve anything more that is worthwhile in Rugby now.
As you age, injuries take longer to heal. AAC is at an age when any serious injury will be his last time on the field. He's just extending his cashflow as long as it will last. Can't blame the guy for that, but there is no good reason to pick him for the top level anymore.
Yes Keith
and probably a serious injury to the Argie winger too.
As an ex fullback myself I can honestly say I never attempted such a pathetic dangerous tackle on anyone my entire playing career. How anyone can consider Beale a decent Test fullback after this is beyond me :)
@Lex
More importantly all other Rugby nations will be wishing Beale is picked as WB fullback this year.
With him there's effectively no last line of defence and you've got a clear run to the line :)
Let's now wait for David Lords new article saying how great Beale is :)

Agree. A superb player in his prime... 5-10 years ago.

The 15 in that clip did a Beale attempt too. Nicole more than made up for it though, cracking shot.

Plenty of experience. No speed. He's too old.

Think that was the best I've seen AAC play this year but he got badly gassed there.

Bad from Beale, but also check how AAC wasn’t up to it, too. [Posted this before I saw other comments on AAC.]

AAC hasn’t been a good defender for about 2 years now. Like Darius Boyd at the Broncos. It’s like he’s afraid of getting hurt.
Keith (no longer) of WA

If Beale had hung on then it’s a head high tackle around the neck, a red card, few weeks on the side line and a penalty try no doubt...

Think Ashley-Cooper defended that overlap poorly as well. Pretty bad for someone so experienced.

The Waratahs must be wishing that Nicole Beck was available to play 15 for them. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T9r2gKV_v30
