Wallabies DIY Player Ratings from Bledisloe 1: The results

By The Roar / Editor

The results are in! This weekend we asked you to tell us how you rated the individual performances from the Wallabies’ big win over New Zealand – we’ve added them up, averaged them out, and now bring them to you.

It’s no surprise that after one of Australia’s best wins in living memory, the fans were happy to give players a thumbs up more or less unanimously across the board.

Best on ground by a comfy margin in our book was Nic White with an average rating 8.73, and he was joined by Samu Kerevi (8.08) and Marika Koroibete (8.04) in the eight-plus club.

In a telling sign of just how strongly the Wallabies performed, the lowest rating of any player in the starting side was a still very impressive 6.71 from Lukhan Salakaia-Loto.

Does this mean Michael Cheika has at long last found his perfect Wallabies side? Check out the full ratings below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Hopefully Foley, Phipps, Hanigan, Simmons, AAC, TPN, Hunt, Dempsey and Robertson get nowhere near the 31 RWC squad.

Samu Kerevi is Diamonds every game. He has been the best back ( with White) in the 4 tests this year and you still have Tah Muppets and Kiwis having a go at him. Loved the way he steamrolled that cat Barrett.

Congrats to the Wallabies for the win in Perth it certainly has the fans confident for the Eden park match. In the excitement here is one set of of stat's no one seems to be talking about. The Wallabies had about 80%possession and scored 6 tries, the all blacks had 20% possession and were one man down in the 2nd half but still managed 4 tries. With another 30% of the ball in the All Blacks favour the result would probably have been different but certainly the final result should be savoured by the Wallabies, well done.

yeah, might have got a bit carried away...but I mean his kicking is atrocious, there should just be a blanket ban on him kicking the football. White on the other hand has improved his kicking out of sight

Plus he got Barret sent off which enabled us to be a man up for more than an entire half of Rugby. Genius work really.

Coles did not hook a single feed. Smith fed the ball behind the locks feet.

An 8 for Kerevi and an 8 for Hodge is pushing it ...... although he played well Kerevi bombed 2 tries through not passing when he should have and Hodge missed 4 out of 6 tackle attempts ..... probably both should be marked down a little.

And don’t forget Fionn: Foley, Folau, Phipps, Hanigan, Robertson, Simmons, Skelton, AAC are not in the match day squads. If only we could somehow shoehorn Hooper out of 7, we might be more competitive, more regularly. Basically, the changes to the Wallabies coaching and selection process has resulted in the kind of team selection and gameplan changes we have been ranting about for 4 years! You’re welcome, Australia.

Kind of... we have only had three games, and won two, so 66.66% as opposed to less than 50%... It will be interesting to see what happens here... Again, this last game, was really an amazing hark back to better times, with better Wallaby teams running around... smarter play, players sticking to the plan, everyone playing fairly well, for the whole game. I hope it keeps up.

It would be nice to think that this was the “real” Wallabies and what we’ve seen over the last four years was the anomaly. Even though there are still structural and skill deficiencies in the Wallabies, they have made progress and were rewarded with a great win. There is still a long way to go and the ABs don’t let you thrash them twice. Interesting how much better we looked without Foley and Folau. They were previously automatic selections. White and Genia gave us great momentum without the threat of Phipps coming on. Now, if we could just dislodge Hooper and start with an actual 7, I reckon we’d be more of a threat. Hooper coming on with 20 to go would be immense. Just like Coleman coming on.

I don't see them enforcing the engagement laws - still seeing connection between the front rowers heads and opposition shoulders pre-set.

PeerhS. You can say that about plenty. AAA missed one that directly led to a try. Banks missed a sitter, Kerevi hogged and stuffed up a certain try. No-one is perfect in this game of ours.

Happy to forgive the bunch of missed tackles? It's what's been happening for years here. Some good stuff erases some bad stuff. Where was he for the ABs quick try from a kick off?

Mat be Hooper should have made made his feelings known to the Ref. Do it once, do it twice, do it 3 times. The Refs know they are "miked" up and their constant refusal will be recorded and scrutinised in their march review If the Ref ignores the Captains submissions, then so be it. But at least try !

Yep, I’m okay with all those ratings. Pretty much what I gave them. I think we all agree that the Wallabies were the better side on the night and the best Wallabies team we’ve seen for a few years.

They can’t control the refereeing. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a scrummaging performance like that over New Zealand.
