Maybe you’re right and maybe my post above for 12 weeks is a bit over the top (although isn’t 12 weeks the entry point?). but I really don’t want this stuff to go unpunished as it sends the wrong message. Next we’ll be saying that a finger up the date in the ruck is ok – where would Izzy be then ?

Marler cited for squirrel grip on Jones

Ok fair enough. How about we just call it sexual assault and give him 12 weeks for that. It’s unsportsmanlike behaviour and deserves a decent penalty.

Max, I could be wrong but I think the Rebels deteriorated last year when they removed English from #13. He had a pairing with Meakes that appeared to be working. I hope Wessles doesn’t change that moving forward. I would like to see Hodge on the bench to start.

The Wrap: Super Rugby splits into two

Gee Geoff, who would’ve thought that teams need to play together a fair bit before they can expect some consistent level of success? I guess Chieka wasn’t aware of that when he played some of our halves pairings in the recent World Cup. 😢

The Wrap: Super Rugby splits into two

Yes – and a 4 year ban at this level effectively ruins the guy’s career. Yes it was stupid, but it shouldn’t be a career ending penalty.

The Wrap: Super Rugby splits into two

It was a stupid thing to do, but you’re right – I don’t think there was any intention to harm. Having said that you can’t play with someone’s junk. It’s wrong on so many fronts, and we don’t want to send a message that it’s ok. 12 weeks for mine. Maybe it’s 16 because it’s Marler and he’s a knob (pun intended). 😊

Yeah I think so too. If Koroibete was a couple of feet back, then no problem.

The obstruction call that divided a commentary box

Don’t k ow why he’s not getting a game at The Rebels. Is he injured?

Super Rugby Round 3 teams: Petaia ruled out in injury blow for Reds

Yeah, because the Force were perennial over-achievers. Rebels do need to start delivering something though – Wessels must be getting nervous.

Six talking points from Super Rugby Round 2

Cliffy was indeed great to watch. Really enjoyed his barnstorming runs. Thanks for the article. I enjoy reading these ones

Aussie abroad: Wycliff Palu

Thanks. Disappointing about your lack of coverage of the Rebels.

Report card on the Aussie Super Rugby conference

Ok thanks. Sounds like a relaxing of the Giteau rule already !

Rennie: Rankings rise will be hard work

I didn’t realise White was overseas – how did he get to play for the wallabies last year?

Hooper has been a poor captain, however to be fair last year was his best – he actually seemed to take the points on offer (who would’ve thought) 😊

Michael Hooper steps down as Waratahs captain

Beale will play 10 and crab sideways all season unfortunately. 😢

You could be right. Still not sure about Hodge’s best spot though.

Andrew Kellaway hoping to grab Rebels starting spot

Ok nice one. Thanks for that. Be interesting to see how he fits into the Rebels backline with Hodge, DHP, Koroibete. The loss of Maddocks to the Tahs should help his cause though.

What’s his best position do you think Paul. I haven’t seen a lot of him….

Yeah, the model is a bit off isn’t it. Should be in the middle of winter with mud 😛

Confirmed: Waratahs pluck Maddocks from Rebels

what great backs has anyone developed in the last 5 years?

Can someone tell me how to get spaces in the text. I wrote the above as 2 separate paragraphs but they get published as a single slab of text….

You could be right Paul, but to be fair he hasn’t really had much of an opportunity….

I think with Jack, he’s quite quick and has a good pass on either side, and seems to be able to create space and time for himself (although don’t know if there’s any stats to show this, just my opinion). I thought he would have a few seasons in the back 3 positions before eventually getting a crack at 5/8.

With regards to Hodge, I just think he’s got a good boot, is deceptively quick and can make some good cover tackles, and is a good last line of defence.

I actually saw him as a longer term 10, but agree that he could be a good 15. Tbh I saw Hodge as trying to cement the 15 spot also so we’ll have to wait and see I guess…..

Who’s that Paul ?
