One of the matches of the season gets underway, as the Geelong Cats and Richmond Tigers do battle in a blockbuster at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

The Cats continue to go from strength to strength in 2020 and they made it six wins in a row last week with an absolute demolition of Essendon. Two of their four losses this season have come by under ten points and, with the league’s best percentage, they’ll look to press their premiership credentials even further with a win tonight.

Standing in their way are the reigning premiers, Richmond. The Tigers may sit in fourth, but their superb form in finals over the last few seasons means they’ll back themselves to do serious damage once they begin. They’ll use tonight as a big opportunity to test themselves against a frontrunner and extend their four-game winning streak.

The last meeting between these sides was 2019’s preliminary final, with Richmond overcoming a 21-point halftime deficit to run the Cats down and move on. The Tigers have won four of their last five matches against Geelong, but all of those games have been at the MCG.

First up l was Vinyl Welder, then a Motor Trimmer, then a Timber & Metal Teacher. I now do the Parolee job 3 days, trimming of Kombis (at a very casual pace) and Astrology charts here n there.

would rather not try & create something for the fear of giving up a scoring opportunity to the opposition

How’s some of those plays with 40 seconds or so on the clock before half or 3 quarter time, they started kicking it lateral or backwards after winning the ball from the bounce then the siren went before they got it in the 50. That was so frustrating for me to see.

You know Teams actually try and kick goals, not points. So whats your problem?

Prelim meeting is more likely.

possibly, but do u disagree with the premise that a lot of their stats are just padding, worth about as much as 15 metre kick backwards from the 1/2 back flank to the back pocket to a bloke in the clear, who then proceeds to kick to another team mate alone in the opposite pocket ... good on the stat sheet, worse than useless in terms of winning a game of footy

seriously we did kick brilliantly against wc, some of thats down to where we were having shots from though, not many tina*se pings from deep in the pockets …. if u reckon the umps had anything to do with tiges winning u werent watching the same game as me … jk going down certainly hurt u blokes, grimes for the tiges not to the same extent … u had a few more out than us, but highlight for me was how the tiges were able to negate some of wc real strengths, like nic nat in the ruck & mcgoverns intercept marking .. if they meet again would expect a hard fought battle

Well that's stepping over the knockabout line but not totally out of character. it hasn't affected the culture.

The week leading up is incredible in itself. Winning a prelim is the second best feeling in all of footy and thats a lot of good feelings.

Totally agree Goalsonly. As a Pies man I well know GF heartache but would rather make 8 in a row and lose them all than spectate.

yeah its a bit miserable here in melb atm, even the weather has turned to crap today after some nice spring weather, for me the tiges doing well is one of the few positives atm, i guess im lucky in that although its gone quiet at least im still working, nothing worse than to have all this leisure time & being unable to go anywhere

Reckon the QLD humidity has much to answer for. Although I grew up playing footy in darwin and though I could only kick about 40m I rarely missed……I played mainly half-back though, so I didn’t get a lot of chances
