Tom Hawkins is back for Geelong with their season on the line in a Saturday night blockbuster against St Kilda. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:25pm (AEST).
The Saints have, against all odds, clung to sixth until the last two weeks of the season – but with a clash with Brisbane at the Gabba coming up in Round 24, a loss here would all but certainly cost them a finals berth.
The Cats, meanwhile, will be without ruckman Rhys Stanley, but regain veteran Hawkins from a hamstring complaint. Lose here, and the reigning premiers will go without finals action for the first time since 2015 – the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Venue: Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
First bounce: 7:25pm (AEST)
TV: Channel 7, Fox Footy
Streaming: Kayo Sports
Betting: Saints $2.25, Cats $1.65 – odds via PlayUp

Ain’t that true.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. It was a simple joke.

A bit like some Blues supporters who derided the Pies when the beat the Suns by 12 goals. Funny game isn’t it.

There will be some who will never forgive Peter Matera...

Not to Eagles supporters. It suggests a personal deep melancholy and a rebarbative view of what it takes to follow your team no matter what.

I can see each of those results occurring, although as you say, all three at once would not be likely. Geelong's season is done. Only second dead rubber game for that club since 2006. Retirement central. Dogs playing for finals. Could easily see the Dogs get up. If we win tomorrow, we'll know going into our game vs Sydney whether we can move up in the top 4 or not. If not, our motivation will be below Sydney who may be playing to hold their spot. And if GWS bring the form they showed today, they can beat anyone. FWIW I reckon the Dogs will beat Geelong and Sydney will beat us (but only assuming we win tomorrow). I also think Brisbane will beat St Kilda. Which means I see St Kilda's fate coming down to the final game - which I think Carlton will win.

In all seriousness, congrats. I don’t mind Rossy. It’s better to have contrasting styles than everyone play the same.

So to the events of the round. Flies were swatted by the Lions. Blues won by a fingernail. Giants stomped the Bombers, then stomped the crushed and oozing mass. Swans won by a micron. Saints sent the Cats on an early surfing holiday - to Katmandu.

If you replaced the Saints position with the Blues, those odds would shorten very quickly. :silly:

Well, you only ever have your own team but I’ll certainly be rooting for your boys in the finals. They play a good brand.

The last time they missed finals they went and recruited Paddy Dangerfield to join 26 year old Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins, 24yo Blicavs, 23yo Duncan, 22yo Guthrie. Don’t think they will bounce back as quick this time.

First the Bombers get pumped, now this! It’s been a great day for Hawks supporters

From memory you were on them last year as well and stuck fat when the talk back boards were melting down - you probably deserve to jump on board more than most Blues supporters

Cats were more comprehensive this week than last. The scoreboard flattered the Cats because of the Saints inaccuracy this week.
