The 16th edition of Jane McGrath Day at the SCG sees Australia resume 196 runs behind Pakistan’s first innings total of 313 with eight wickets in hand. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10am (AEST).
Australia do not need to panic about their run rate at all. If Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith can consolidate the start David Warner and Usman Khawaja provided, then the likes of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh will get the platform to play their natural game and move the game forward. The aim for Australia’s top seven will be to bat throughout the whole day and for someone to get a big hundred.
Pakistan kept things tight with the ball, but questions remain on part-timer Salman Ali Agha being more effective with the ball compared to frontline spinner Sajid Khan. Pakistan would ideally want a first innings lead over 50, so early wickets are key.
Australia started brilliantly with the ball, but some poor tactics to the tail have made things harder than they should be. That being said, this SCG pitch is a belter for batting and the hosts should cash in over the next couple of days.

There were a couple of reasons why Cummins brought Marnus on to bowl the other day. One reason was to try and get the breakthrough and the second was there were no reviews left.

A fifty with 10 fours blazing away would also be a way to go out, in Warner style, then again a duck would be also.

Well that was a very nice day out at the cricket! Not only didn't it rain but the weather was perfect all day. Then that final session was excitement on overdrive after an otherwise tense day.

I haven't found a Shiraz that isn't. The Chateau Cardboard that's a staple in the caravan passes muster too.

Pat's really got to question his position in the team. No runs and no wickets in his last two innings and being forced to bowl a part-timer to get a breakthrough. Shocking.
