Australia and the West Indies resume their 2024 Frank Worrell Trophy battle in the city of Adelaide. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10:30am (AEDT).

Australia’s struggles with the bat continue, but a battling century from Travis Head led to a first-innings lead of 95.

Josh Hazlewood then led the way with a glorious new ball spell of four wickets to leave the Windies facing a heavy defeat.

As expected with an inexperienced team, the tourists did well in patches but lost the key moments.

With wicketkeeper Josh Da Silva at the crease, the Windies will be hoping their lower order can support him and set Australia a tricky run chase.

They also need to have played more that 40 tests to be considered properly for me

Wasn't he there as a reserve middle order bat in case Green, Marsh or Head were injured? Asking for a fiend.

Surely the corollary is that you won't win too many if you don't score 200? Which was a real risk if Head had been dismissed cheaply

They should, at least the batters. CA would be shooting themselves in the foot if guys like Head, Marsh, Carey, Labuschagne and Smith were held back.

He did. He got hit by a bouncer with 1 run to get and retired hurt

If you did that, you'd probably open with Renshaw and drop Smith back to 4

Is there any reason why they wouldn’t still have a problem, assuming they did have a problem, which is up for debate. Less chance of spilling the beans if he has a good long career than if he is left out and disgruntled

I would have gone Hazlewood for man of the match. i know Head did brilliantly, but the emphatic nature of this win was all down to the bowling attack. You won't lose many tests when bowling team out for under 200 in each innings.

What happens if Green gets a duck and Renshaw gets a ton? I could not see any other option than to drop Green and put Renshaw at four.

Does that mean the Test players will play the BBL finals?

Except you know that's what is going to happen Don, they're going to play the reserve batsman, if they wanted Bancroft to have a chance of playing, he'd have been there.

It's the kind of pitch most batsmen seem to hate, there was inconsistent bounce on day one, it's seemed green, but there's been some good bowling, no doubt.

Yeah other than India, we're closing in on a decade since a visiting team beat us (RSA in 2016). At one point you'd say we were almost in more trouble here than we were at any point against Pakistan (when we were five odd and behind them), but can't say it was a seesawing contest when it's all over so quickly.

You do not have a point, or if you do you are too stpuid to articulate it. If one of the bowlers got injured it would be like saying “It’ll be pretty disgusting if Boland now gets a game in Neser’s place.” Like, why the fcuk would the sole batsman that is in the squad not be the batsman that is called up in the event of an injury to a batsman? I mean, I would not have a problem if Bancroft did play in the next game but to be surprised, at all, if Renshaw plays would be pretty idoitic. You just want something to complain about.
