Real recent examples, what about Bannerman he delivered from day 1.

McDonald won’t budge on 'here to win today, not worried about tomorrow' policy: ‘Pick the best XI at any given time’

Totally agree on playing the best XI and the same people asking for change would be the first to complain if Morris went for 1/100 and Pakistan got a draw.

I also don’t buy the need for change for the sake of it players play so much cricket they don’t need to play to gain experience, if your good enough you’ll do well.

The only puzzling issue is Warner, we’re not picking the best XI we’re picking our best X plus Warner for promotional reasons.

'Not what you want to see for Test cricket': Aussie stars sound franchise alarm ahead of international summer

This is my issue with the CA strategy. By not helping other countries and by not building up the ICC they are ensuring a future which belongs to the BCCI. The BBL will never match the IPL. Instead of letting other countries wither and wait till the same happens to them CA would be better off saving international cricket rather then ending up with the IPL beign the NBA where anything that matters only happens in India.

'Not what you want to see for Test cricket': Aussie stars sound franchise alarm ahead of international summer

Sorry some general understanding was assumed.

They would pay Rauf to have a contest, not direct payments but through a pool for the lesser nations. As effectively happens in football and to a lesser extent in Cricket where FIFA/ICC revenue is used to pay players from less wealthy associations.

That would be if their long-term goal was the revival of Test Cricket with 8-10 countries. If on the other hand they see BBL growth as the best bang for their buck they would pay Rauf to play for the Melbourne Stars. Its paying a foreigner to bowl a cricket ball in Australia either way.

As for SA its a similar spin, they’re investing in T20 but they’re hardly going to come out and say don’t watch our other product when they are hosting India this year.

'Not what you want to see for Test cricket': Aussie stars sound franchise alarm ahead of international summer

That’s pretty naive. CA aren’t broke and they focus on T20. How much is Rauf paid to play for the Stars by CA as opposed to the $0 CA would offer for him to play for Pakistan.

The big 3 have effectively decided strategically to invest in their T20 comps instead of Test cricket which would require investment in thier opponents. I’m not saying they are wrong but do you really expect CA to come out and publically say Test Cricket is not the future.

Most fans only care for an Australian win.

It’s partly why cricket has fallen well behind Aussie rules and rugby league in popularity from being the most popular sport 30 years ago. In 20 years I expect it will be behind football and basketball too.

Sure they’ll always be an oi oi oi crowd but long term sport needs a contest.

Do Australians love Test cricket or just watching the baggy green side win at home pretty much all the time?

Their fastest bowler injured. 2nd fastest about to play the BBL. This summer a joke

‘Quite disgusting, childish, condescending’: Johnson blasts Bailey over mental health comment as Warner feud gets nastier

Did Warner manager just say that our fast bowlers were involved in sandgate?

For Bailey to play the mental health card to diminish any criticism was poor. The Bunnings comment was something the summer desperately needed

Khawaja averages 47, Labuschagne 53, Smith 59, Head 45. Compared to 30 years ago Taylor 43, Slater 43, Boon 44, M Waugh 42, S Waugh 51.

Averages are up 5-10

'Bunnings would sell out of sandpaper': Bailey reacts after Johnson delivers brutal sledge over 'arrogant' Warner's farewell

Surely Bailey wasn’t serious. Warner made 1 century in his last 25 tests. Averages 21.78 in India and 26.74 in England. Career average 28.29 in the last 3 years. If he was a wicket-keeper we’d say it wasn’t good enough.

Warner the ultimate downhill skier and there isn’t one test series in the last 8 years that you could say Australia won because he was in the side

'Bunnings would sell out of sandpaper': Bailey reacts after Johnson delivers brutal sledge over 'arrogant' Warner's farewell

Surely Bailey taking the p***. How is an opener who has made 1 century in his last 25 games hard to replace.

Or is it his dubiously never revealed cheating that will be missed.

Out of how many failures? One 50 in about 12 career knock-out games

Warner never makes runs when the chips are down. His record in knockout white ball games is atrocious.

Smith scrambling to make T20 World Cup squad as diminishing white-ball returns put spot in jeopardy

I wouldn’t rule Smith out. The thing with white ball cricket is that you play good but not great bowlers in between World Cups and then the best bowlers at the event.

If we reflecton the recent Marnus v Stoinis v Green debate Australia was “lucky” that Head got injured in SA which allowed Marnus to be in the conversation and play the WC final. He’s a inferior ODI batsman at hitting 6s against BBL bowlers but coming in to face Bumrah, well the World Cup might be India’s if Stoinis had walked out instead.

The ideal T20 side still needs one anchor for the low scoring games who’s hardly used in the 200+ games. Last year in the final it was pretty much Stokes run a ball 52 and Afridi getting injured that got England home

Smith scrambling to make T20 World Cup squad as diminishing white-ball returns put spot in jeopardy

Have to pick him otherwise he might just give up the whole Test gig and sign a massive IPL contract. Australia’s been lucky that Starc gave up IPL $$$ to play for Australia but luck doesn’t last forever.

The best thing the selectors can do for Cameron Green is to drop him from Test team … for now

That was probably offered and he refused it. On the Neville podcast they were all laughting at how Neville used to invest his money when he was 18 whilst Becks spent it all on cars & fashion, and how some boring Man Utd accountant told Becks to invest it, and of course turned out he didn’t need to worry.
