India were seething after Proteas captain Dean Elgar escaped in a controversial DRS moment – and Virat Kohli appeared to suggest host broadcaster SuperSport should be paying closer attention to their own players.
Yeah no way was it going over. Its not the first one Ive seen this year either. Im sick of the DRS system. Its failing badly and the home Umps we are getting all around the world at the moment are very much favouring their own countries. And the DRS system 100% allows them to do it.
I really can't see what was so bad about this decision. It's only just hit Elgar below the knee roll and he got a fair way down the pitch. Just can't see why this decision brought out such a strong reaction from the Indian players. I think it's more down to frustration about their performance this series rather than the decision itself.
Double standards for these clowns.
Kohli and ko. need to be fined 75% of match fee and banned for a test each. This is a completely slanderous act that should not be tolerated.
Kohli has confirmed that he is easily the biggest chad in the game, followed by Stoinis.
I am happy for Stoinis though, he had the courage to come out when others have not. I wish him and Stanley all the very best.
Two separate issues being wrongly conflated into one
1. Kohli needs to be fined, or given 24 hours to back his calls up.
2. Hawkeye needs a review. It's independent so there is no bias, but there must be an issue with the algorithm or the info that was programmed in that was making that projection. No way was the ball bouncing over the stumps! Even Erasmus was caught on the stump mic saying "that's impossible".
Such statesmen of the game these blokes, all class all the time. The Australian team needs to take a leaf out of their book regarding sportsmanship. They could learn a thing or two from India and maybe lose the "ugly Australian" reputation as the bad boys of world cricket.
This video should be compulsory viewing for all teams as something to aspire to, emulating Virat's pure version of the noble game of cricket.
What a bunch of petulant children. Gentleman's game? Respect for the umpire?
Hope they are heavily punished and miss games. Cricket doesn't need this and these little cry babies are not bigger than the game
Kohlis behaviour has been unbecoming of a test player, let alone captain for many many years. His behaviour exposes absolute double standards in that if an Australian player was to consistently carry on in the same manner they would be fined, banned and likely rail roaded out of the game. This is a disgusting display of unsportsmanlike, petty behaviour - where are the umpires while this is going on? I'll still be very surprised if he is disciplined at all.
That’s how he always reacts. This one was just worse than usual. They’re heading for a loss in a series where they’ve won every toss and batted and haven’t been good enough. The toys are well and truly out of the pram
Yeah, funny how it's the host broadcasters fault yet the technology is managed by an independent firm.
The technology is not 100% but then again, what is in life?
If the Indians think that the stump mics are being left on between balls for them and not SA there’s an easy fix. They do what Aus did a few years back and do their own advertising. If the official beer sponsor is brand A you talk about how much you are looking forward to a frosty cold brand B beer after the days play finishes. Mics get turned off pretty quick.
Agreed David. It well could be the turning point of the series/game. But this has been a very good entertaining series between two good bowling units and two worse batting units. Occasional brilliance from batsman of both sides. Kohli was looking supreme (showed lot of application and control) in the first innings and Pant was flamboyant in the second innings of India.
SA has a new bowler in Jansen and he along with Rabada were the best bowlers of the tournament. SA's Elgar showed lot of grit and determination every time he batted and Keegan Pietersen was another one.
The broadcaster has nothing to do with the ball-tracking so to carry on as if they do only shows ignorance. That being said listening to the commentary team hooting in the background wasn’t a good look. Very childish from Kohli, he should follow Australia’s lead and threaten to break someone’s arm. Much more dignified.
The ball-tracking technology is authorised by HawkEye, an independent body, which relays the data to the host broadcaster, in this case SuperSport. HawkEye might get it wrong occasionally- this hit him rather low on the pad - but going on like some QAnon conspiracy should cost them a hefty fine.
From what I saw, he didn't have a long stride down the pitch and he was trapped well below the knee roll. And its not a pace bowler rather a spinner is bowling. Also the batsman is not as tall as Marco Jansen. I don't approve of this decision and I don't condone their behavior either. But what India have to realize is that game was lost when Rahane and Pujara were dismissed in first 2 overs handing the advantage to the opposition. If not for Pant, India would have failed to set even 200 as target to SA.
Lol how is that going over! Supersport have form focusing on touring party primarily. At no stage, has the stump mic been turned up when the South Africans were in the field. The Pant – Van Dussen chatter was barely audible on the stump mic.
That being said, Kohli should have rallied his team better, no need to lose it. He can’t act like a crying baby throwing toys from his pram
Hard to tell without the side shot. Ashwin is talk, Elgar was a long way down the pitch. Didn’t look that bad from front on.
On the other hand, there seems to be a pretty strong case for a slander action from SuperSport.

India doth protest too much, makes it look like they are worried about something.

Or maybe call one of the black opposition players a monkey and then lie about it. Also undignified and ancient history, so irrelevant
