Round 8 continues tonight when the Brisbane Broncos host the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:55pm (AEST).

After a week in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, you would imagine that the Broncos would be keen to get out on the park tonight.

After an encouraging performance against the Panthers, they were diabolical against the Eels, missing 55 tackles in the process. It doesn’t get any easier tonight, with David Fifita keen to impress again against his former club.

Interestingly enough, it’s the halves that have felt Kevin Walter’s wrath, with Cowboys bound Tom Dearden and Brodie Croft out of the 17. Jesse Arthars returns from illness, replacing David Mead on the wing. Anthony Milford gets another chance in the 6 jersey.

The Titans gave up a big lead against the Rabbitohs last Friday night, with Benji Marshall putting on a clinic. They are hanging on the edge of the 8 but appear a fair way short of the best teams in the competition at this stage.

Fifita bagged 3 tries against South Sydney and will be keen for more tonight. AJ Brimson has been a little quiet in recent weeks and I expect him to have a big impact against the Broncos.

Anthony Don is expected to play after recovering from a hip injury, while Herman Ese’ese looks set to finally debut for the Gold Coast.

Prediction
After a tumultuous week in Brisbane, the Broncos get a real test of character tonight, with Kevin Walters also under the microscope.

They will improve, but the Titans appear to have too much class.

Gold Coast Titans by 12.

I'm not sure what Milford they were watching, but I saw a guy coming onto the ball at pace and passing it where it needed to go. Free from having to worry about organising anything he just played and was good. Not great but give it time. Also someone seems to have taken on the TC role to Lockyer with him, maybe Rikki?

Body sit up - cracker    good description on the Bronx. Looked to be dead and buried but came back to life with a vengeance. Was a great win.

Did you see, on one occasion he made a 4th tackle in the middle. Then the Titans kicked to Isaako! WTF is that about?

Mate, it was like going to a funeral then have the body sit up - then play some good footy. The crowds weren't that big so the pubs weren't that busy afterward either. Win Win.

Milford was ordinary? Equaled Gambles linebreak assists, try assists and forced dropouts. A tackle bust, offloads, effective grubbers and bombs and error free. Isaako looked good but a lot of that was thanks to being the benificiary of the halves combining on both sides of the field

Happens to a kid. The guy is not the finished article. The Titans might find they pay overs to develop him into that finished product for another club in three years

That is sickening.

Thanks Andrew. Yes, I was referring to Fifita. For the highest paid player in the game, he seems to go MIA a lot

You mean Fifita, Broncos contained him pretty well, Holbrook's not impressed with the weak defence, they've gone downhill rapidly since Manly's 36-0 demolition.

Taylor and Milford were both ordinary Tony. Titans defence was terrible. Broncos have found the half back to guide them round, he was quite impressive, also stands 6' 3", Tyson Gamble won't be dropped any time soon,

I didn't watch the game, but did the $1,3m play tonight?

Titans look soft, almost incapable of tackling. Imagine if we had someone like John Bateman or James Graham, an out and out brute. There’d be no room for slackness with a player like that.

Agreed, but the Broncos need a bit of a pest at 7 and he appears to slow the game down a little bit from time to time, so that's good to give them a rest (provided there's no penalty given for his behaviour!)

Wow what a match to watch. 11 tries in all... Isaako has played a role in almost all of them!

Not so sure if they can’t carry a second forty.

When you are paid $1m, you should be able to take control of a game, or at least influence the result. Neither Taylor or milford are capable of that over the last 3 years. I'm starting to think that the titans would improve exponentially if they signed Shaun Johnson whereas I don't know if he would work as well with the current broncos team

Great entertainment from both sides. Unfortunately for both the Titans and the Broncos is that their highest paid players had minimal impact on the result. Taylor for the Titans was only involved in one of their tries, likewise Milford wasn't very involved in the broncos tries. Games like these need the star player to step up and control the attack. Neither of these two players did that.

2 victories from 8 rounds? When you're hot, you're hot. At 15 minutes I was bracing for losing by 60. It's pleasing for the broncs to win, but it comes at the cost of the titans falling to earth with a resounding thud.

Gamble looked like he scored the winning try for an origin series when a titans player got sent to the bin I know its technically bad sportsmanship but gee that passion was a sight for sore eyes
