Probably a PR mistake, that. Better to be stoic, and prove how great a coach Foster is by giving the Pumas a 6-1 try hiding in the next match. Then, just smile and say 'Fossie isn't bad.'
This from Sam Cane is a sight more honest than the habitual non performer Adam Two-Fathers inspired customary post game bleat from the Aeropelican Newcastle Air Services Harmless Wallabies of “We are gutted (but our pay cheques will remain the same – how good is that?!)”, repeated game after game after game.
Nobody gets paid without sponsors and TV. His comments have merit but are commercially naive.

Its a fallacy perpetrated by OS media….They like to believe that because NZ are good at rugby then the whole of NZ MUST be rugby fanatics…..The words religion and rugby are locked together by many ignorant OS people when it comes to NZ rugby……Its not even live on FTA in NZ
I'm not sure about the argument about knowing more than the players. I don't have to be a politician to know when Scotty from Marketing is pulling a stunt, nor do I have to be a rocket scientist to know when one explodes, there might be a problem.
If Sam Cane has issues with how people express their opinions, that's a completely different issue, but people have been offering their views since Eve suggested eating an apple was a good idea and that's not going to change any time soon.
Hyperbolic unjustified criticism via social media is a blight on society in general. It’s the equivalent of giving a megaphone to everyone in the crowd. This bloke is the captain of the All Blacks and deserves some respect. His message is more to his team mates than the fans.
When NZ hosted the 2011 RWC, polling revealed that 50% of the country had no interest in it whatsoever.
And I can tell you with great certainty that a lot of people in the remaining 50% are not "incredibly knowledgeable" about the game of rugby. I would count myself in that category.
If Cane is calling out scumbags for scumbag comments on social media then I call that leadership.
He’s lucky he’s not Hooper, then he would really know what criticism is. Cracking after a couple of loses isn’t a good sign that he can handle the pressure.
Sam is usually quite reserved and the fact has had a minor spit, and it really is, suggests that there may be some issues in-camp, methinks.
The truth is that the leadership of previous iterations appears a little askew and that is what perhaps he and Foster should focus on, not key-board warriors like us...
All anyone cares about is the 80 minutes on the field.
If the players and coaches are all that matters but the team is not playing well then there is an issue.

He might not even know it exists. He isn't on social media and doesn't read all that bs. Rightfully so

And you do? like how can you even tell whether others know or not without believing you have a clue yourself?

Gotta earn that respect, you don't get thrown the armband and all the respect in the world at the same time.

Yep, One would have to say that Hooper is about as sensitive to criticism as was Attila the Hun. Tough little bugger !

That’s what they told you, is it? I’ve met plenty of Kiwis that don’t even follow the rugby!

Agreed. Still not a smart thing to say in public as a captain. This will be used against him over and over again.

Nah. He’s right. Most of those having a dig at him (just as they have Hooper) don’t have the slightest clue. That’s social media for ya!
