AFL Rounds 14 to 18 confirmed with second fixture frenzy

By Liam Salter / Roar Guru

The remainder of the 2020 AFL season fixture has been announced, the governing body revealing the details of Rounds 14 to 18.

The first three rounds will be played in a Big Bash-style fixture for the second time this year, with action on 18 of the 19 days between August 27 and September 14.

Round 18’s match-ups have also been announced, with the AFL confirming that the final home and away round will be played over a regular Thursday-Sunday fixturing block. This will potentially allow for a pre-finals bye, a fixture that will surely be appreciated by the eight finals-bound teams. Specific times and matches for Round 18 are yet to be announced.

Western Australian fans hopeful of seeing their teams remain in Perth for the rest of the regular season will be disappointed, with Optus Stadium hosting its last match in Round 14, although finals may be played there later in the year.

Cairns will see significant footy action for the first time in several years with Fremantle, the Demons and Sydney all playing in the North Queensland city.

Hawthorn will join the two South Australian sides in being based in the state for much of the remainder of the year, although the club remains hopeful a Tasmanian fixture will be possible.

The Gabba – which remains a viable grand final location – will host eight matches during the fixture frenzy.

All teams who haven’t had a bye already will receive one through these rounds, with six different sides getting a rest in Round 15. Melbourne and Essendon will not receive a bye, and will instead play their postponed Round 3 fixture in the final round.

Well, nice article AD - shame about everything said below. I agree Matti had a lot of issues and could be pretty unpleasant, but there's a lot of people below who delighted in antagonising him and winding him up as well. The comment about having mental health issues and implying embarrassment to the family was a shocker. Way to kick down on someone who you know is not your intellectual equal. You know who you are.

There is a joke? How can you tell? It's an indistinct piece of writing.

The big win here is Eagles will/might eventually get used to QLD conditions at the right time (finals hopefully). So apart from being annoyed at timing of Richmond fixture (Off travel and 4-day break, at night with slippery conditions), I think we’ve done well. Can see many Eagles fans not happy, but I think this kinda gives us the best shot. We can play Optus, Adelaide, VIC (Minus Geelong) well. QLD slippery at night has been an issue, so by the pointy end if we’re still in it, it will be good conditioning. Rather than being in WA and constant travel, or Adelaide and having to travel to QLD for a final. It’s weird, and will be hard on the boys, but I’m seeing a fair bit of upside. There should also be the advantage of better mental prep this time, plus everyone else is doing it, so it’s kinda even now. The only worrying thing is if they schedule Noth Melb game in TAS. Now that I’ll be annoyed about! And we’ve just lost Waterman, which really seriously blows. :unhappy: :unhappy: :unhappy: But so be it. We’ve had good prep for the hub, and at least both stays have been sandwiched with a stint at home. A Luta Continua. GO EAGLES!!!

That's hilarious.....the biggest bully on the The Roar calling me a bully. Typical of your kind. You don't like being called out. So like i said. Be a good boy, be nice and follow the respect posting rules outlined by The Roar and most of all dont be a tr011 because I'll be watching and i will report you.

Your a bully, that's ok keep reminding me  I'm self assured that a lonely desperado who would've employed the tactic of attacking the most personal about someone before for some sick teenage game before doesn't rock my Kasbah at all. You could be occupying yourself with personal development but trying to bully someone into how you expect the world to be says George Pell probably got you.

No bombarding at all. Just one simple message that hopefully shouldn’t be too hard for you to understand….abide by the rules, be nice, be respectful and don’t tr011. If you do, I’ll be here to remind you.

Certainly disrepute and a pertinent question why is everything to do with Richmond a non issue? Every about a certain clubs behaviour I cited at the beginning of your first lockdown has been proven quite correct, it was broadcast over the major funder of the game, i don't hate Richmond you guys over react like no other supporters ,a tool to stop ppl making comments on Richmond, say what you like about wce if there is no element of truth then no reaction is usually what you find in life.

You've bombarded me with comments that are online bullying that ppl top themselves over everyday and your playing the victim, sadly for you time to move on and see if you can fullfill that desire to make someone su1cide. You're tasteless and obviously lacking substance because anyone on here who reads your attacks understands the disgusting nature of them, I hope no one in your family is bombarded with online toxicity like yours because ppl deserve life not b0z0 willing harm upon them. Again I've never insulted your mental health, said no one likes you or attacked the way you look, whatever hate your spewing whilst claiming victimhood ends here, stop following me it's simple, keep your delusional thinking over there and never abuse ppl for mental health, popularity or the way they look cause that can kill.

No, I think you are clouded by your anti Richmond attitude as usual. Others have said here (I haven't gone looking) players from other teams were doing similar things. I don't understand it, but apparently it's a thing. Stupid, a bit off too, but not disrepute. Not done to the opposition. No police charges either.

Fair enough, surely impacts bargaining power that's a certain, seriously are you surprised the tigers avoided sanctions? I feel like if this was a normal year they'd have faced a classic bringing the game into disrepute where as this year the news cycle is such that any story can be swept away quickly as there is way more important stuff occupying our minds.
