Get your questions in for Issue 6 of Coach's Corner

By The Roar / Editor

It’s that time of the week once again, Roarers: after another weekend of rugby, we need your questions for the next edition of Coach’s Corner.

If you’re not yet familiar with the column, it’s where rugby analyst Nick Bishop answers your queries, complete with his usual video analysis that you see in his Wednesday articles.

Miss the latest instalment of Coach’s Corner? Catch up here.

As always, there have been plenty of recent goings-on in the rugby world to digest this week. The Waratahs are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons once again, this time after sacking coach Rob Penney – a decision which has gone down very poorly indeed.

We had our first Wallabies squad of the year to digest, Scotland denied France’s hopes of a Six Nations title, the Brumbies flexed their Super Rugby AU muscle, and there were two upset wins in Aotearoa.

So, if you have some questions related to any of that – or, indeed, something completely different, leave them in the comments section below and Nick will answer some of them this Friday.

Remember to keep your questions as specific as possible – the more particular, the easier they are to go into detail on, whereas more general queries aren’t as easy to answer succinctly.

So leave your questions below, and keep an eye out for Nick’s regular Wednesday column tomorrow.

I now remember another question that came out of the squad announcement recently. I found it odd that Rennie chose 4 hookers, none of them the two guys you have highlighted as the best scrummagers in the country (BPA and Uelese). Any thoughts on this?

Q.1. What could any coach do to & for the Tahs that Penney wasn't trying to do? Q.2. If Super teams can select & prepare based on who they're playing. Does this mean the Wallabies are likely to as well?

Yeah it just seems an anomaly to me Hoy, It's as if someone sat down and said "hey if we cross the definition of a knock-on, with the definition of foul play, then make the assumption that if the hand is pointing downwards it was a deliberate act, we can card people for it...." I think if you've got to stretch that far to find a penalty, it's probably better left alone.

Bell was average in tests come on. Swinton was sent off before halftime in his first test and Gordon was so poor off the bench i wish White was kept on for 80 mins. Those 3 have done the same this year . Nothing. Look at The tahs!. dead last without a win conceding 40 points a game. If Rennie picks any of those 3 in the Wallabies best 23 he is on the tah payroll.

I don't think he could catch, and he wasn't a dangerous play maker... but he was a dangerous runner for sure.

Solid point. But for some reason when they decided on the law, it got a dispensation on the knock back/down thing...

It was an awful game. Leinster tried but failed to bring any sort of continuity to attack. Munster brought zero. Larkham should hand back his pay as an attack coach for a team that has no idea how to attack

Oh, and O'Connor is no longer in the role. He's from NSW so that should make you happy.

I notice they're all Tahs. If I may: - Bell was brilliant off the bench in his first match. He carried powerfully into the teeth of the AB forwards and made ground after contact. His scrummaging held up. - Swinton was picked to deliver some hard-hitting work at 6 and provide a decent lineout option. He was outstanding in his time on the paddock but let himself down by being given a RC - Gordon was the best running 9 in the games he played starting midway through the SR season. He was selected on form but failed to deliver when used as a Wallaby When another Tah is selected, let me know and I'll provide some commentary

It's a rule, impossible to enforce consistently and lacking in logic.

If you have all the answers, you should start your own column, you could call it, “Ask the Wizard”.

How do you reinstate a calm, competent coach and get rid of the venal and underperforming board that sacked him? hypothetically speaking of course.

I’m with you on this. Silly rule. And bogs us down, waiting to see if he was trying or not. I say try to intercept if you want!

I’d like to know if a guy like Hamish Stewart should be considered for 13. He has some 10 skills and some 7 skills. I like that crotty and alb could actually play both pretty well
