Matildas star Sam Kerr has taken a leaf out of Andrew Symonds’ book on how to deal with pitch invaders by dropping the shoulder onto a pest who ran onto the field during Chelsea’s UCL match overnight.
Kerr was given a yellow card for her efforts which was reminiscent of the former Australian cricketer’s hit on a streaker at the Gabba in 2008.
At least this pitch-invading idiot was wearing clothes but Kerr gave him short shrift as he held out his mobile phone to try to take a selfie next to Juventus star Magda Eriksson.
As the buffoon was running away from the security staff, Kerr took matters into her own hands and bumped him to the turf.
Kerr, who scored two crucial goals in the FA Cup final win over Arsenal, was given a yellow card by the referee, much to the chagrin of the fans.
The Women’s Champions League clash finished in a scoreless draw with Chelsea needing a draw from their final match to advance to the knockout stage but Kerr’s strike on the pitch invader was clearly the play of the day.

Great hit Sam.

Yeah it’s criminal assault. Even security aren’t allowed to use force like that. No sympathy for the DH who copped it, but it’s very silly from Sam.

No provocation from me Maximus, what do you call it, just a bit of banter. Remember this is a football tab. Now if I went to an AFL tab & said that, yeah defo provocation but true statement. So you now understand the difference, people coming onto football tab & telling us that AFL is bigger then A-League is provocation & gets a few ‘unhinged comments’ back, even if it is a true statement.

There you go Punter, zero provocation. I suspect when Sam Kerr is playing for West Coast in 2024 she will be on a lot more than $40K.

yes her brother would've been happy with that. Luckily for Kerr AFLW wasn't around when growing up otherwise she'd be best player in the competition earning 40K a year & big name in Perth & Melbourne.

yeah - - Symonds was a clumsy Rugby should/elbow charge - - Kerr executed a perfect footy hip/shoulder as per her upbringing. Good to see she's still got that footy brain she's talked about.

It was a great shoulder hit by Sam. Look at the half-witted comments on this post. There are so many losers in the world. Sams a winner. If the guy gets fined $5k for invading the pitch he's not going to do it to often. These Italians are so slow.

Except it wasn't so it was fcking hilarious Speaking of whataboutery, whataboutery would the security have done if the streaker - man or woman - was at men's champions league game?

Lucky not to get a red - no arms, and reckless tackle. Mitigating factor is that there didn't look like contact to the head, though Sam should work on her contact zone as there's a small margin for error where she's aiming.

Well done Sam. She is just a sensation. As far as that moron male, can we put him in an asylum. These people can be dangerous and crazy (remember Peter Horan!). Also, as far as the moron ref, let’s hope they rescind the yellow.

Do we know if Andrew Symonds was sued by the streaker he bumped in a similar fashion?

I'm not a lawyer but he probably could press charges if he wanted. Legally I don't think Kerr is allowed to assault people even if they enter the pitch.

what would've happened if the shoe was on the other foot, and it was a male player that did the shoulder barge to a female streaker? it would be an assault charge and a lawsuit

Was the yellow card for NOT using an elbow?

What was left of dignity after being a total idiot has been well and truly extinguished.
